After what could be considered a triumphant show at this year's Boston Music Awards, Bobby Brown still can't find any love from local law enforcement. According to Laurel Sweet, the State Police want to charge Brown with cocaine possession. The state police had to deal with Brown, who caused a ruckus at a Holiday Inn in Brockton last December and allegedly had some cocaine. Brown's case will be heard in Brockton District Court on February......

Josh Ritter Tuesday, December 11 Club Passim, Harvard Square 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., $35-$75 (SOLD OUT) When Josh Ritter closed his most recent Somerville show with a rambled monologue in which he dispensed impractical driving directions from Davis Square to Canada (via the Fresh Pond Whole Foods) and plugged his two upcoming benefit concerts at Passim, Bostonist jumped at the chance to see him in such a cozy, acoustic-friendly venue—and so did everyone......

Here’s a novel idea: if a music scene wants to prove its relevancy through an award show, why doesn’t that scene put in some effort? Boston’s ties to regional, up-and-coming, and national talent were on clear display Saturday evening at the Orpheum Theatre, as the 2007 Boston Music Awards honored many a bold-faced musical name. Metal poster boys Killswitch Engage took home Act of the Year accolades, while critical darlings Lori McKenna and Martin Sexton......

Bostonist came across an image of Bobby Brown going country at Perez Hilton, who got a photo of Brown in a cowboy hat: Brown was at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville, which is far too glossy to be true country. It's like a My First Country Bar. The hat looks all right on Brown, but don't expect him to be wearing it if he shows up to get his Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's......

Okay, okay, this edition of "Series of Tubes" isn't all about Britney Spears, but local bloggers had plenty to say about her dopey performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. --Karen is far more sympathetic to Britney's case because America can't resist a story of someone like Spears. --Rude Boy finds similarities between Miz Spears and Family Guy. A debate then ensued as to whether or not it was appropriate to discuss Spears in the......

From the tallest skyscraper in the City of Brotherly Love to Canadian tourism copywriting brilliance, here's what you should know from our -ist cities: This week, Phillyist took a gleeful listen to the White Stripes' exciting new release, watched in awe as their new tallest skyscraper was finally completed, found a cheaper way to get to Gothamist, invented a tasty new dessert, and brought back their Craigslist Round-Up feature with a bang. The Click Five, Boston's skinny-tie clad power pop band, is down one lead singer. The Globe reported today that Eric Dill has left the band. While the rest of the band wished Dill luck in a statement, they were quick to remind fans that the first single off the band's sophomore release will be piped through radio speakers next month. They also joke -- oh how we hope they joke -- about "hot topless shots"......

Despite recent surges in population (due to the start of the academic year) and some violent events in the not-too-distant past, Allston has not, in fact, been declared a disaster area (as opposed to New Orleans, shown at right). But these similarities are exactly what makes Boston's own "Rock City" the perfect place to host three nights' worth of benefit shows for Katrina relief and recovery efforts. Great Scott on Commonwealth Avenue is the venue......
