This past weekend, concertgoers at the Bonnaroo music festival didn't show much love for Kanye West, but they did show a surprising amount of love to the Celtics on that Tennessee cow farm. The festival organizers played Game 4 to a packed tent full of cheering fans. This Bostonist spotted several Celts jerseys over the weekend, not to mention Red Sox paraphernalia, and some B tattoos to round out a weekend full of half-naked......

Happy first weekend of September - and happy Labor Day weekend, too, for our American cities! Let's take a look at what's been happening around the Ist-a-verse. The deaths of two firefighters shook Bostonist this week. Boston's firefighters bent over backwards all week long - first, they fought flames pouring from the Boston Tea Party museum, and then a restaurant fire killed two and injured many more. Their efforts make everything else - like Tom......

Many a Broadway work has previewed in Boston before heading to the Great White Way -- and we strongly suggest that the musical announced this week follow suit. A Flaming Lips concert is in many respects a musical theatre event in and of itself. But there is buzz that the band will officially launch a Broadway venture with the help of a collaboration so bizarre that it just might be awesome: Aaron Sorkin. The fast-talking......

It's tough to not envy our Austin peers these days, as the sonic ear candy that is South by Southwest looms in mid-March. Without the ability to hop on a plane and hightail it to Texas, many have been left to look at initial lineup announcements and imagine wandering Sixth Street with happy grins on their faces. A new tool on the official festival site could add to the bitterness, but it can also......

Bostonist hears that Girl Talk is sold out, but never fear. You can console yourself with Boston's brilliant Mission of Burma, who will be at the Paradise tonight at 8pm. With Mission of Burma, you can't go wrong. This Bostonist has seen them twice and can vouch for their skills. Really, if your music can age gracefully over 20 years, and you're still putting out stuff that Pitchfork adores, you must be doing something right.......

Sometimes you need to clean yourself up, get serious, and move in with daddie for a few months before you head to Latin America for a new gig. The District bid's Jenna Bush adios. D.C.-based television shows have an elderly audience and DCist has some suggestions to fix that. They're also throwing Butterstick the panda bear a birthday bash. Yeah, we may have a few issues with our World Cup broadcasters here, but this......

Harvard Square is hosting the Arts First/Mayfair Festival, while Somerville steps up with a massive collection of Open Studios. Who will win in a battle that pits aesthetes against…more aesthetes? Of course Bostonist will be in both places to observe the battle for best arts fair. Here’s a preview. On Sunday, May 7 Harvard Square’s Mayfair boasts 4 music stages: the Main Stage by Out of Town News, the Holyoke Center features jazz & world......

Everyone is running around today. Well, mostly in a more or less straight path from Hopkinton to Boston. Watching people complete a marathon makes Bostonist feel proud that they’re strong and a little guilty that we’ve never even tried to make it the 26.2 ourselves. We’ll be watching, but when our spirits start to drop it will be time for some good music. An eclectic mix of shows make the picks this week –......
