Tom Brady spoke to us in the realm of mortals on Wednesday in relation to the NFL lockout. Kim Kardashian says she never met the lowest-profile New England Patriots player ever Bret Lockett and that he was never her personal Anthony Weiner. Bostonist was blissfully unaware of Lockett until he was linked to Kardashian, who is drawn to second-rate professional athletes like Reggie Bush and current betrothed Kris Humphries of the New Jersey Nets. She might sue Lockett or In Touch Weekly. Lockett allegedly had a "sexting fling" with Kardashian while she was otherwise involved with Humphries. He claims there is proof of some nature. Imagine if the proof is a sexy photo of Kim. more ›

The Supreme Court had no comment when it refused to hear a case related to Spygate. Yes, Spygate. The case was previously dismissed by a District Court and the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia. A New York Jets season ticket-holder, of course, sued the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick over the 2007 Spygate scandal. He was seeking $185 million in damages in the class-action lawsuit because, he claimed, the games between the Pats and Jets were fixed for seven years. [Globe] more ›

Well, nobody expected that. For the second year in a row, the New England Patriots were bounced out of the playoffs, at home, by an allegedly inferior team. Last year, Baltimore crushed the good guys. It got way worse yesterday as the New York Jets shocked, well, everyone outside of their lockerroom, and beat the Patriots, 28-21. more ›

Please don't call this a prediction. (You know who we're picking, though.) Sunday's AFC Divisional playoff game between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets can't possible live up to the hype before the game. The New York Post won the hype battle with a clever "Return of the Jet-I" theme on the cover of a pullout section for the game. Granted, it's clever, and it's understandable how a perennial winner can be viewed in a negative light by an opponent's fan base. Two issues, though. Rex Ryan is more similar to Jabba the Hut than Han Solo. Bill Belichick is better cast as the Emperor than Darth Vader. It's a hood; not a helmet. more ›

The 2010 in the Boston sports scene looked like a year of transition, or, a bridge, or a rebuilding season or something unsatisfactory given the current state of expectations here. Now that the year is over, it looks like it might be the year the Hub got its sports groove back. more ›

Six members of the New England Patriots were named to the AFC Pro Bowl squad. Tom Brady was the league's leading vote-getter with 1,877,079 votes in his possible MVP season. Terrell Suggs even voted for #12. Guard Logan Mankins and nose guard Vince Wilfork were, like Brady, voted starters. Jerod Mayo, rookie Devin McCourty, and safety Brandon Meriweather were named as reserves. With the Pro Bowl being played one week before the Super Bowl, we hope none of the Pats are available. The NFL keeps proving it's the best show in town. The Thanksgiving tripleheader turned into a preview for what could be the league's signature game of the entire season a week from Monday. Listen, we don't want to play into the whole Hub mentality - after all, it isn't all about us all the time, but we couldn't help but notice the way the two biggest headlines coming from Monday's crazy day of sports are closely tied to sports action right here in Boston. Our alumni in a couple of sports stepped up to in big, albeit decidedly different ways. For these two guys, Monday definitely represented the best of times and worst of times. more ›

The Minnesota Vikings reportedly waived Randy Moss one day after another forgettable football game and memorable press conference from #84. Moss said he wouldn't take reporters questions for the rest of the year after being fined for not talking to the media. Moss also appeared to regret talking his way out of Foxboro as he praised the New England Patriots and questioned Minnesota's preparation for yesterday's game. His worst offense was possibly trying to overshadow whiney crybaby spotlight chaser future Hall of Famer Brett Favre. more ›

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the New England Patriots acquired Deion Branch from the Seattle Seahawks for a fourth-round pick. A Branch deal was rumored since the Randy Moss trade. Branch, who reportedly had been in communication with Tom Brady for almost a week about returning to the Pats, was dealt to Seattle in 2006 for a first-round pick after, yes, a contract dispute. more ›

The Patriots beat Miami 41-14 last night and Randy Moss had zero catches. He may never catch a ball again for the NEP as the team is reportedly trying to trade him to the Minnesota Vikings, his first NFL team. The Boston Globe picked up on Jay Glazer's report on foxsports.com, which also said any trade hinges on Moss signing a contract extension with Minnesota. The Boston Herald said via Twitter Moss' agent, Joel Segal, asked the Patriots to trade Moss after Week 1.

The Randy Moss saga continued to unfold on Monday and Tuesday. Despite Sunday's controversial comments from #81, the New England Patriots have gone completely vanilla. Bill Belichick loves Moss. more ›

Two Red Sox wins in Seattle were followed by a pair of losses, the second of which, a 4-2 debacle, featured a maddening meltdown from Hideki Okajima. Seattle's eighth-inning rally got a spark from two bunts, each, let's say, helped by Okajima. The collapse took a deserved win from Daisuke Matsuzaka. The faltering bullpen was exposed this weekend to the point where trading for help may be needed. more ›
