Mitt Romney has been polling as the Republcan frontrunner against a bunch of other candidates. Another candidate, Representative Michele Bachmann, has joined the race and is already neck-and-neck with Romney in at least one poll. The Des Moines Register has Romney at 23% in Iowa, closely followed by Bachmann at 22%. Slate Magazine described Romney as leading Bachmann "by a hair." We think that's a deliberate hair pun.
Thursday was supposed to be Mitt Romney's day to start his campaign. He did that, with no necktie, on a picturesque farm in New Hampshire. Romney told us his name - nice touch - and believes in America. He believes President Obama "failed" America. He apparently doesn't believe in the phrase "President Obama."

There is a busy undercard visiting the Granite State today with Herman Cain, Michele Bachmann, and Rudy Guiliani exploiting stumping on Memorial Day. The main event will wait: Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin are due later this week.

The fire started at around 11:45 a.m. and lasted about an hour. Nobody was injured.

Smithfield, Rhode Island already is home to 2,700 jobs. Merrimack, New Hampshire has 4,600 employees. [Globe]

Aren't you thankful for stuff? So are Mass residents (in various ways), a little girl for her dog, Yankee-haters, etc.

On Tuesday, we reached out to criminals. Now, we're helping politicians? Apparently, there are at least two Democrats in New Hampshire who dislike Sarah Palin enough to publicly speculate on her life or death. One, state Rep. Timothy Horrigan, already resigned after he reportedly posted this on Facebook: "I also want her to live because a living Sarah Palin is less dangerous than a dead one." Horrigan's comment followed State Rep. candidate Keith Halloran wishing Palin died in a plane crash. Our advice: When making a possibly career-ending comment, don't do it at the same time as another tool does. You at least get all available train wreck style attention.
New Hampshire is living up to its motto this week. They are serious about Live Free or Die.
We already brought you the official shirt of New Hampshire, complete with wolves and moon. Now, craft spoof site Regretsy brings you the perfect pairing: wolf sweater pants (or skants, if you will). Will they become the official pants/skants of New Hampshire? We knew, of course, that leggings are not pants, but the jury's still out on sweaters. New Hampshire does, certainly, have plenty of toads, some with a nasal, bleating call.
The popular "Three Wolf Moon" t-shirt that can be seen everywhere from Diesel to the Boston Comic Convention has been named the official t-shirt of New Hampshire, according to Neatorama. The Granite State, known for its libertarian politics, rocky expanses, and many wolves, may have moved one step closer to becoming a living parody of itself.
