As impressive as Satuday's 7-3 win over the Flyers was, please don't think ill of Bostonist if we don't get too excited just one game into the Eastern Conference semifinals. You know why. more ›

Perhaps Hub sportsfans needed a day off after a glorious few days from the locals. The Celtics, Bruins, and Red Sox all reasserted themselves. It's draft week in the NFL and we're certain Bill Belichick is in his bunker hatching his latest scheme to mine the college game for future Patriots. There is lots of speculation about what the Patriots will do with six high picks. more ›

Bostonist readers are often Pats fans. As Bill Belichick restocked the NEP in the 2010 NFL Draft last weekend, we were all more focused on catches, tackles and 40 times than anything else. We didn't know there were more stats to consider. Crime stats, for example. A few players Belichick drafted have had brushes with the law. Aaron Hernandez, a fourth-round pick, reportedly failed multiple drug tests for marijuana. Anyone remember Christian Peter? [Attleboro Sun Chronicle] more ›

As we all know, Tom Brady's legend began as a lowly sixth-round draft choice. Bill Belichick made him famous, and you know the rest. Being one of the great stories in the history of the NFL Draft could be a source of pride and "That's-My-Boy" boasting each year for Tom Brady Sr. Instead, it brings up bad memories. "It was like taking a knife and slitting your wrist every time a name was called," he said. Great. Tom has adapted somehow. more ›

Something funny happened on the way to yesterday's anticpated Red Sox slaughter of the Yankees. Funny-odd, that it, not funny-ha-ha. Two batters into the game, Yankees starter Jeff Karstens left the game injured after being whacked with a Julio Lugo line drive. Eight innings of the Yankee bullpen? Final score's gonna be 24-1, right? Um, no. Kei Igawa, who was slated to be sent down to Scranton, if not Coney Island, came on in relief... more ›

Pity the poor Orioles. Their fan base is disgruntled and apathetic, and Baltimore is a mere short flight down from New England. Thus, Sox-Orioles games at Camden Yards turn into travelling Red Sox rallies. They can't even sing "root, root, root for the home team" during the seventh-inning stretch. In front of a friendly crowd, the Red Sox got back on track, beating the ostensible home team 6-1. Curt Schilling pitched seven efficient, solid innings,... more ›

This Japanese Word of the Day will, we hope, be brought to you by Daisuke Matsuzaka, who will try to use his houri to send the Yankees packing tonight. The Red Sox took game two of the latest Ultimate Regular Season Series yesterday; Josh Beckett recovered from a couple shaky innings to hold New York in check. David Ortiz provided the big hit, as he is wont to do, with a two-run homer around... more ›

Sure, you can spend your time dealing with the celebrity implications of Tom Brady's recent...prolific spree. But at Bostonist Sports, we're really looking forward to that 2031 NFL Draft. We can just see Mel Kiper III now, projecting that 12 of the first 13 picks will be quarterbacks with Tom Terrific's championship DNA. (The other pick will be the Detroit Lions, who will still be looking for a top-flight WR for Charlie Batch Jr. to... more ›
