Sure, the Colts just did the world a great service by not inflicting the Jets and their fans on the Super Bowl. But you can't root for the Colts. You just can't. Even if we're grudgingly acknowledging Peyton Manning's clutch performance, and saw coach Caldwell kind of almost crack a smile, we just can't.

A friend stopped into Bostonist Cambridge Sports HQ midway through the Bruins game yesterday. We were all excited and said, "You just missed it! The Bruins just scored two goals in a row!" The friend, no slouch, asked, "But are they winning?" C'est les 2009-2010 Bruins in a nutshell. The answer at the time was yes, but it turned into no, as the B's fell to the LA Kings in a 4-3 shootout.
The only way yesterday could have been more shocking and more sudden? If Nicolas Cage, dressed in a bear suit, had come out and slugged Tom Brady on the way out of the tunnel (see this clip, at 1:19, for what that may have looked like). At least that would have had the blessing of being over in a second and letting us flip over to a satisfying Celtics win.
Well, it had to end sometime. The Bruins' longest winning streak since 1973 came in emphatic fashion, as the boys were outworked and outplayed by the Sabres at the Garden yesterday. Buffalo scored twice early, and it was a hole the B's never got out of, as they didn't get a lot of shots on Justin Miller and flat-out missed some of the shots they did get.
