In the Shepard Fairey exhibit which opens today for the general public at the Institute of Contemporary Art, there is a quotation by Andy Warhol, one of Fairey’s main influences if not his most important.
Shepard Fairey, he of the ubiquitous Obama poster, is coming to the ICA this week. On Thursday, he’ll introduce a new exhibit, “Shepard Fairey: Supply and Demand”, and give a talk at 6:30pm. The lecture is sold out already, but you can still catch a glimpse of the artist as he takes over the decks on Friday, Feb. 6 for the next installment of the ICA’s “Experiment”, the museum’s art event-slash-dance party. Massachusetts cellist Yo-Yo Ma was not actually playing his cello during Barack Obama's televised inauguration. Complaining that it was "wicked cold," the musician and sex symbol opted instead to pretend to perform while piping in a prerecorded track. [NYTimes]

I was recently saddened by her rejection from the Massachusetts-based Ghost Hunters group. They said their reasoning had something to do with my exclusive obsession with vampires and other cryptozoological phonomea didn't really fit into their mission of hunting down the after-beings of salors reeking mildew and decaying seaweed.

The Boston Herald today--in sadly predictable fashion--posted online an article of theirs about a local Youtube star without anywhere linking to the Youtube video in question. (They do have their own embedded version of the video, but this Bostonist couldn't get it to load, and the whole premise of the piece is the unlikely Youtube stardom of a Natick toddler.)
When one thinks of a precendent-setting local politician with a stake in this year's Democratic primary for president, they probably think of Governor Deval Patrick. But Boston City Council At-Large member Sam Yoon is also in the mix.
