It felt great for a second or two, flipping the pages of the local dailies to check in with the Bruins. Win, win, shootout win, come from behind win, win...and then that Monday night game against the Capitals happened. The Bruins came back home to Boston last night a little humbled, but we'd hoped that they were ready to kick it up a notch and not make absolute fools of themselves again deliver a quality......

There's been a lot of praise heaped on Bruins goalie Tim Thomas this year, and it's all been deserved. The guy's been a huge reason why the B's are still very much in the playoff hunt. But man is mortal, and Tim looked anything but great last night in Florida, giving up four goals in 12 shots through two periods. His defense was far from blameless, but Tim's been great at covering for their mistakes.......

So much for the idea that the thrilling shootout win over Buffalo would spark the Bruins. They followed up that great win with an official stinkeroo last night, turning a 3-2 lead into a 6-3 embarassing loss at the hands of the Panthers. Zdeno Chara, Glen Murray (yay!) and Marco Sturm scored for the B's, but then the defense broke down and Tim Thomas stopped looking like himself for a while. Bad news all around.......

One of our favorite little quirks in sports is that, when a hockey player is listed as active or inactive for a given game, the announcers say "so-and-so will [or will not] be dressed for tonight's game". It made us giggle as eighth-graders; it makes us giggle today. But giggling seems somehow inappropriate at today's Globe story about the New York artist named Kurt Kauper, who's causing a splash in the art and hockey world......

Oh no, there's another Red Sox pitcher song - and it's only a matter of time before we see Jerry Remy rocking the air guitar to the new tune. Fresh on the heels of Daisuke Matsuzaka's "Gyroball," the Boston Red Sox pitching staff brings you "Okajima, Oki-Doki."Okajima translator Jeff Yamaguchi admitted recently that the song, well, kind of sucks when you first listen to it, but it will needle its place into your heart if......

After weeks of wandering around LA looking like she had a beach ball under her shirt, actress Bridget Moynahan has finally given birth to a boy. Babydaddy Tom Brady must be proud. Still no word on what his current girlfriend, panty model Gisele Bundchen, is thinking. The little one has not yet been named. What about "QB Junior"? Or "Lil Pigskin"? Or "Trojan"? Any other suggestions? C'mon - name the Brady Baby! For the Pats......

The Florida Panthers beat the Bruins 7 to 2. What happened? Things were looking up! Maybe they're just tired after being on the road. Or maybe stamina isn't their strong suit. At least Marco Sturm resigned for four years. Fourteen million dollars ought to help wake him up! The Bruins' loss surprised us a little bit. The Celtics' loss did not. They lost to the Jazz 87 to 105. There's a thin silver lining for......
