We can't get the image of the neon red lights invading Kramer's apartment in the episode of Seinfeld when Kenny Rogers Roasters opened up a joint right outside his bedroom window. The affliction for Northeastern University residents in the proposed building wouldn't be the sleepless nights, apartment trading, and addiction to rotisserie chicken, rather perverse Village People nightmares as the YMCA sign flashes into the evening. If approved, the GrandMarc, a proposed 34 story...

The rumors of the death of the Patriots have been greatly exaggerated. That paraphrase couldn’t be more true to Bostonians after the Pats dismantled the Cincinnati Bengals 38-13, in Cincy (they did not PROTECT THEIR HOUSE; that Under Armour guy would be heated with them), no less.
The Patriots returned to their winning ways yesterday in Foxboro with a 16-3 triumph over division rival, the New York Jets, during a cold and snowy Sunday afternoon. This one was a bit of a yawner in the early stages. After a bit of a field position battle over the 1st 17 minutes, when the Pats put together a 14 play drive lasting 8:09 seconds that began on their 20 and ended with a...
Bostonist had good intentions of writing a full-bodied concert round up to feature the wonder, whimsy and rock of The Decemberists and Franz Ferdinand, both gracing Boston with their presence last week. Quite unfortunately, review of the latter was prevented by a dramatic series of events on Saturday night, including the slam of a guest list against the Orpheum will call window, the insensitive throw of an Ohio drivers' license back through the copper ticket slot, and a loud statement of the obvious, "You're not on the list! Next!" The embarassing defeat of a psuedo-journalist/blogger aside, Bostonist now turns to its readers for concert insight:
Bostonist loves Ben Harper's fire and so do a lot of others: he plays to a sold-out crowd at Avalon tonight. A double-Grammy winner (for "There Will Be A Light," his recent album that paired him with the legendary gospel group the Blind Boys of Alabama), he has sold more than 7 million albums worldwide and is backed by his five-piece band, the Innocent Criminals. Also, Harper's website is nice. Bostonist was checking the setlist from the show at 9:30, and Harper played 30 songs! We also learned that the capacity at Avalon is 1850.
Well, you know what they say - "That's why they play the games". BC came out to play in their last BIG EAST tournament as the #1 seed and with that title comes a nice big target on their backs. West Virginia came out to prove that they belong in the NCAA field of 65 and did so in a big way, going up on the Eagles by as much as 25 points at the beginning of the second half. BC managed to chop the lead down to something within striking distance, a mere 4 points, but never got any closer. The 25 points proved to be insurmountable. This victory for West Virginia will probably ensure that they come down off everyone's "Bubble Team" list (no, not that) and earn a rightful spot in the NCAA tourney as an at-large. That is, unless they win the BIG EAST tournament - then they're automatic.
The #7 BC Eagles take on the WVU Mountaineers at noon today at MSG, in their third meeting this season. The sportsbooks have the Eagles as a 5.5 point favorite despite BC beating WVU this season by margins of 20 and 12. WVU did pummel an uninspired Providence team Wednesday afternoon and they can point to their two victories against Pitt. Pitt did whip BC last week, however many say that sometimes a team can learn more from a loss than a win. Craig Smith and Jared Dudley earned Big East 1st Team Honors, Al Skinner is the Big East Coach of the Year, and Sean Williams made the All Rookie Team. Yet, the Big East is still bitter over the ACC move and it has been seen in the officiating and the lack of trophy ceremonies. BC should be extremely motivated to win the Big East tournament and give the final Heisman to Mike Tranghese and his awesome smile.
