It's a hot debate right now. The Somerville Journal posted pictures and video of the annual Tufts Naked Quad Run. The video and pictures are far from titillating. It's tush, tush, tush as far as they eye can see.

Charlie, Fletcher, and Special Ed of WFNX morning show The Sandbox invited Bostonists Korri and Caroline up to chat about the Smells of the T. Little did we know that smells would be the theme of the entire show. Callers were eager to share the smells they have encountered all over the state, such as peanut-butter factories, burnt coffee, prison feet, and pee simmering on radiators (ugh).

WGA Strike Support Rally Friday, December 14, 12:00 pm-3:00 pm Harvard Square Fans4writers.com Update: Bradley's Almanac just gave us a heads-up--the WGA East announced "Please RSVP to 212-767-7843 and leave the number of people in your party" if you plan to attend the event at the church. By now, we're all sick of the writers' strike, and Bostonist HQ is suffering from MCRW (Major Colbert Report Withdrawal). Rest assured, the writers are even sicker of...

The Five Brothers, aka Mitt Romney's kids who all blog for Dad, are toothy, cute, and so wholesome it could make your brain bleed. They strike us as mostly harmless sorts who just want to tell the world how cool their Dad is. But they do not, under any circumstances, need to be playing touch football with streamers dangling around their butts. The Team Romney football game marks the second time that Bostonist has seen...

This Bostonist must be in a mood this week because I'm enjoying torturing you all with beautiful pictures of warm summer days. Regardless, PotD new contributor blueblossomphoto gives this very pretty shot that is an example of the orton technique. We love the muted colors and vanishing point of the bridge. When used properly, orton gives photos an almost fuzzy and soft feel. To learn more about how to use the orton technique, check...

One of our favorite little quirks in sports is that, when a hockey player is listed as active or inactive for a given game, the announcers say "so-and-so will [or will not] be dressed for tonight's game". It made us giggle as eighth-graders; it makes us giggle today. But giggling seems somehow inappropriate at today's Globe story about the New York artist named Kurt Kauper, who's causing a splash in the art and hockey world...

--The Legislature is going to consider banning spanking tomorrow. That's spanking of children, not "please, sir, may I have another" frat-spanking or whatever role-playing you do with your significant other. [WCVB] --A man's SUV became stuck on train tracks in Beverly last night just as a commuter train was heading toward him. He escaped in the nick of time. His SUV got creamed. [Photo-WCVB] --The Roman Catholic Archdiocese plans to close at least two schools...

--The DA's office announced earlier this week that it will expand its "Gun Court," which speeds up prosecution of gun-related crimes. Only cases from Dorchester, Roxbury, the South End, and parts of downtown were accelerated to gun court, but now cases from South Boston, East Boston, and Charlestown will go there as well. The DA's office press release touted its success rate: "Gun Court prosecutors have secured convictions in 85.1% of the viable cases handled...

--We're sure you've seen pictures of the dum-dum intern who told his boss he had a family emergency and then got busted going to a Halloween party instead. Unfortunately, he's local. Kevin Colvin, the dum-dum intern in a Tinkerbell costume, was working in Boston, and he wore his pretty costume in Worcester. As one Valleywag commenter put it, "He went out in Worcester wearing a fairy costume. Kid's lucky to be alive, never mind losing...

Londonist got the big scoop of the week with what may be the first images of notorious street artist Banksy in action. They also got on a runaway train without an operator provoking a response from the transport authorities. Elsewhere, London's answer to Central Station is about to open for business, and Londonist got a sneak preview. Meanwhile, spooky goings-on beneath London Bridge, where a cache of skeletons provided an apt story for Hallowe'en....

We're on the verge of Red Sox Burnout and looking forward to the Pats-Colts game (live blog Sunday!), but the Red Sox keep on impressing us with their victory laps. We are loving captain and catcher Jason Varitek right now. Varitek appeals to the angel side of Bostonist's personality. He wears Cosby sweaters and hands out Halloween candy. What's not to love about that? According to the Globe, Varitek gave the kiddies--and their parents--a treat...

After definitively telling Bostonist that a scabies outbreak happened at Harvard's Pennypacker Hall, the school's University Health Service (UHS) sent out an e-mail saying might not have been scabies after all. Maybe. The memo from UHS sent Wednesday afternoon states that the results are inconclusive and that the ants in the Pennypacker pants resulted from "unknown" causes. Ivy Gate Blog has a copy of the memo, which says, "As is frequently the case with rashes,...

A special post today to highlight the amazing work of our friend hargo and his newest public art project, The Wall at Central Square. The project consists of 20 talented artists that have come together to create a unique piece of street art on an 81 foot-long wall in Cambridge. Geoff Hargadon, aka hargo, told us: "We've been installing [the wall] all this week as the artists have come in from all over the...

As Red Sox fans we've become accustomed to the various tauntings (they're clearly jealous), pepto-fueled stressful evenings, and many bleary-eyed mornings. However no matter what curve balls (pun intended) our beloved Boys of Summer, er October, throw at us, we will always declare ourselves proud members of Red Sox Nation. Turns out our all-weather team allegiance is nothing new. One of Boston's most giving and interesting daughters, Isabella Stewart Gardner, was a passionate Red...

The Globe headline read "Fans Erupt in Joy After Sox Comeback." The subhead read, "Police Arrest 12 After Victory." The Herald said that the arrest number was actually 26, and they came away from the scene with a few stories of aggressive police and skittish horses. It would appear that fans and police were able to coexist somewhat, although Bostonist has no idea why the BPD wouldn't let them take a few harmless pictures of...

As if there weren't enough icky skin problems that can be spread via the questionable hygiene practices of college students! Ivy Gate tipped us off that some Harvard students are suffering from an attack of scabies. A university memo states, "Today, three students from Pennypacker were diagnosed with scabies after presenting to University Health Services with an itchy rash." Once UHS determined that the "itchy rash" wasn't caused by the usual suspects, they went into...

--Yarelis Cruz, 26, of Lawrence, is a mom who allegedly grew pot in her house, and she got caught when the teacher of her 11-year-old son found pot pictures on the boy's cell phone. The teacher confiscated the cell phone when Cruz' son was taking pictures in the school when he wasn't supposed to, and she spotted pot plants on the screen. The teacher did the math, the police investigated, and they found a plant...

Photographer and blogger Lolita Parker Jr. was on the scene when fed-up and overheated MBTA passengers broke out of a Red Line train stuck on the Longfellow Bridge during Friday's Park Street Station fire. The following image says a lot of good about Bostonians helping each other. It doesn't say as much about the T, which has some 'splainin' to do. Image courtesy of Lolita Parker Jr. More pictures of the incident are available on...

In the bid to make 2007 the first season when all four LDS's were sweeps, the National League took care of business yesterday. The Rockies bid adieu to Philly, while the Diamondbacks went to Wrigley and broke Cub fans' hearts for the 99th straight season. Which, if you're a Red Sox fan, at least means that when we win the World Series, at least we won't do it on the back of long-suffering Philly or...

And good for them! Last night's trash fire at the Park Street MBTA station caused the usual delays and annoyance, but some passengers became so dangerously overheated when their train got stuck on the Longfellow Bridge that they broke out, using the emergency handles. The Globe noted that the passengers' actions were "unauthorized," but what were they going to do, bake in there like Toll House cookies in an oven? Lolita at Boston Faces, Boston...

…maybe because he is your average elderly tourist! Back when the FBI was posting pictures of an old white guy on its website because they thought it was Whitey Bulger, Bostonist wrote, "The particular pair in the photo look like any other upper-class retired couple looking for a European wine-tasting. If it isn't Whitey Bulger, then the retired couple mistaken for Bulger and Grieg are in for quite a surprise." And guess what? An old...

This week, Phillyist saw the waters of a landmark fountain run red for a Showtime marketing stunt, the Phils pull ahead, and some serious nostalgia. They also got a chance to review an awesome tribute album, reminded folks to see the King and appreciated their beautiful skyline. Chicagoist knows what it's like to like the Cubs. But naming your kid Wrigley Fields? At least they can breathe a little easier now that Grossman's out and...

You cannot escape the Brady Baby. OK! Magazine released the cover image of its latest issue with Bridget Moynahan and her little boy, John Edward Thomas Moynahan, son of Tom Brady. He's a cute kid. Every news outlet has this image, and the Fox 25 morning crew tried to debate whether or not it was a good idea to put the little baby on the cover so soon. The debate swiftly degenerated into a discussion...

*B.G.Lewandowski* is fast becoming a Photo of the Day darling. With pictures like these, can you blame me for loving his work? I could ramble on and on about what makes this photo so great, but honestly, Brian's work is so good, I feel I don't have to. I just love this shot - Enjoy!

The Joiner is a newcomer to Boston and a compulsive joiner of clubs and organizations. He shares his experience joining Boston area groups weekly at Bostonist. Pedestrians trying to navigate the Atlantic Avenue sidewalk on the Boston Waterfront at 7:30 Sunday morning had more to contend with than the usual pointing and clicking tourists. They also had to bypass the mound of tripods and camera bags piled outside Dunkin' Donuts, where members of the Boston...
