Public transportation is being hit hard by today's "blizzard-like conditions." Amtrak shutdown all service between Boston and New York at 5 p.m. The Downeaster from Portland, Maine and Boston was also canceled. WBZ interviewed MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo, who said all commuter boat service was delayed until 11 a.m. He also said the MBTA is doing what it can to have trains ready for the Monday morning commute. In Rhode Island, officials feared the storm could be too severe for snow-removal equipment. As of 9 p.m., 50,000 people were without power. Boston residents can call the Mayor's 24 Hour Constituent Service at (617) 635-4500, or check the City of Boston website for storm-related information.
