We've got a new controversy, courtesy of the Boston Herald. President Obama mentioned meeting a teacher from Boston named Robert Baroz who has been laid off three times in four years. Baroz visited the White House but never met Obama. He's currently employed, too. The Herald says he fudged on Baroz being unemployed to bolster his jobs bill. The President never said he was unemployed. Three pink slips in four year is no way to live.

Sarah Palin isn't "seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States" - her words. We're not sure that rules her out entirely as a third-party candidate because she might just decide to go rogue again. She won't go away, however, as she still wants to liberate us from President Obama and, ahhh, help America by talking. "I need to be able to say what I want to say," she said.

The Herald is finding traction in the Brookline Pledge of Allegiance non-controversy. It's currently optional in Brookline where some want it banned. Republicans want to keep it and Governor Deval Patrick wants to keep away from it. President Obama used some Pledge verbiage during last Thursday's jobs speech and the Herald seemed surprised that a former constitutional law professor was aware of the Pledge of Allegiance. We hope the Herald knows what we're sure the president knows: the phrase "under God" wasn't always in the Pledge. We're enjoying the paper's coverage of this, though. A peacenik reference is hard to pass up. We loved seeing the Herald try to connect Dick Cheney to this.

In response to allegedly "biased" coverage of President Obama by the Boston Herald, the White House denied the paper full access to Wednesday's fundraisers in the Hub. In response to the ban, the Herald went ahead and proved the White House had a point. Michael Graham compared President Obama to Richard Nixon, the paper quoted a very negative assessment of President Obama by Mitt Romey, the Track called the president "Barry," and Howie Carr, well, don't ask.
President Obama visited Boston yesterday and left with a pile of campaign cash from two fundraisers. Ray Allen and Governor Deval Patrick opened for Obama at Boston Center for the Arts in the South End. Allen described Obama as "our coach" while Governor Patrick touted his performance as president, citing the economy and the killing of Osama bin Laden.
Governor Deval Patrick continues his media tour as a defender of President Obama's health care reform plan. He visited MSNBC twice to defend reform and also remind people that Massachusetts' insurance plan was initiated by then Governor Mitt Romney, now a Republican presidential contender.
Mitt Romney will finally offer a health care plan. What has taken him so long? Okay, we know our former governor actually already offered a plan. As it was way too similar to the job-killing, sovereignty-stealing ObamaCare*, Romney has to pretend it never happened, and offer a new plan, because there are a lot of Republicans who really do view it as a job-killing, sovereignty-stealing plan regardless of what i's real impact is.

Senator Scott Brown faces questions today regarding his now false assertion that he saw the pictures of the quite dead Osama bin Laden. (This is possibly worse that Quayle's blunders.)

Senator Scott Brown apparently did not see photos of Osama bin Laden’s dead body, a contradiction of his widely circulated statements from earlier today. While explaining why he agreed with President Obama's decision not to release the death pictures, he told NECN:
As we reported earlier, President Obama decided not to release the pictures of the currently dead Osama bin Laden. Now that President Obama is in election mode, we guess Bostonist has to worry about 2012, too. Obama is the main event, we know, but after that, unless Mitt Romney is Obama's opponent, then Senator Scott Brown is the focus for political junkies in Massachusetts.
Congressman Michael Capuano recently said it was time to "get a little bloody" in support of unions.
