Both hungry and curious will be pleased to know that the Boston Vegetarian Society is holding their 11th annual Food Festival. Past attendees have said the event is often flooded with people, as it attracts the vegan, vegetarian, and inquisitive carnivores. Year-round, the BVS is a an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that has been going strong for twenty years, and are supported by a main staff who are welcoming and helpful to everything from planning gatherings, hosting events, or simply answering inquiries through e-mail. The Food Festival, as you can imagine, is a larger than life presentation of the progress BVS has made in being a stable, influential facet of Boston’s progressive culture. Taking up the Reggie Lewis Athletic Center on Tremont, the festival will feature cooking demos, dietician consultation, children’s activities, discounted shopping, and – of course – free food.

We're getting close, damn close, to the start of the Patriots regular season. Perhaps it will help us take the sting away from what's going on with the Sox lately. There will be some new music at Gillette Stadium for this season's home games. Every time the Pats score a touchdown they'll employ a little celebratory ditty. Right now, they're not sure what it's going to be. We're not quite sure if it's more ironic...

We’ve been digging out all day. After we held our ground on the second floor yesterday only to find that our exterior door was all but snowed shut when it was time to go to work this morning. A bit of shoveling later we’re turning to warm hearts not cold snow. There's a good week ahead of us, temperatures are due to rise, indoors and out. Dinner reservations are hard to come by for tomorrow, and $54 prix fixe is steep. Open markets, fairs and bazaars abound on Saturday and Sunday, with lots of variety for all styles...so come all 'ye (consumer) faithful!

Tonight at Great Scott, Blackout Bar hosts Turbojugend Boston's listening party for Turbonegro's Party Animals CD. Musical guests The Midnight Creeps and Rock and Roll Soliders (Oregon, Gearhead Records). Doors at 10, $4 cover.

Bostonist's usual yard sale attendance has been way down this season, what with the rain and all, but that just means we have more money to drop at the fifth annual Punk Rock Flea Market this Saturday. From noon to six, Mass Art's gym turns into a crafty wonderland, with local record labels, screenprinters, and crafty citizens selling their original creations for the masses. Oh, and they have DJ's and a raffle for a Beck-decorated bike (proceeds go the Kirsten Malone Fund). We're just hoping to find more Edward Gorey magnets this year.

Tonight at the ICC Church in Allston, punk rock legends 7 Seconds return. Hailing from Reno, 7 Seconds has written some of the most influential songs in punk history. Known for their positive vibes, melodic choruses, and prolific career, 7 Seconds is widely beloved in the scene. Opening acts Champion, The Briggs, and Some Kind Of Hate make this show a must see. As a result, word is the show will sell out early. So if you want to walk together and rock together with Bostonist, get up to Allston and represent. The ICC Chruch is located at 557 Cambridge Street. The show is all ages and doors are at 5pm.
