A massive fire in a Quincy apartment building on Saturday was caused by a resident illegally grilling on her patio. The fire, in Building E of the Faxon Park apartment complex on Falls Boulevard, displaced every resident of the 24-unit building. None of the residents were injured by the blaze. One Quincy firefighter was injured after falling while fighting the fire. The fire reportedly began on second-floor and spread rapidly through the open attic in the third floor. Firefighters had trouble finding hydrants to fight the fire. The building is a total loss.

Kenneth Babij, 20, and Christopher Babij, 25, both from Quincy, were arrested today for allegedly stealing Representative William R. Keating's black 2001 Lexus from the driveway of his Quincy home. He called 911, identified himself and described his car. Police located the car on Hancock Street and followed it into the McDonald’s restaurant. Police questioned both passengers and were told "“It’s a rental," by the driver.
State police arrested Wayne Leduc, 40, of Milton for drunk driving after he collided with a parked cruiser and a trooper conducting a vehicle stop on I-93 early Sunday morning in Quincy. The trooper is being treated at Boston Medical Center with leg injuries. Leduc is charged with operating under the influence, operating to endanger, failure to move over for an emergency vehicle and a marked lanes violation. Trooper Edward Treseler was injured Wednesday morning in Framingham by a car that crossed the median. In the past 15 months, the State Police said 12 troopers have been injured in crashes involving suspected impaired driving, erratic driving, or speeding. All charges alleged until proven under law. In an incident seemingly ripped from the legendary Saturday Night Live "Samurai Deli" skit, a Quincy man brandished a hatchet at a Subway shop in a Wal-Mart in Quincy on Friday. It wasn't a samurai sword, and he certainly wasn't John Belushi, but someone violently chopping food with a dangerous weapon reminded Bostonist of the classic SNL skit.

Brandon Yang, 8, of Quincy died of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning and his mother is hospitalized in Boston. Yang's 16-year-old brother from both of them unconscious in their Quincy home on Thursday. Quincy firefighters reportedly found a lit charcoal hibachi grill in the Yardarm Lane home. Yang, a third-grader at the Sung Harbor Community School in Quincy, was pronounced dead at Quincy Medical Center. The State Police are investigating the case. A Quincy man was arrested for drunken driving on Route 93 Friday after he allegedly hit four cars while driving between Attleboro and Milton. Two 27-year old Malden women were arrested for beating a woman in the women's restroom at the Estate Bar in Boston. The Massachusetts State police arrested an 18-year-old from Charlton for shooting an arrow into a car.
Mitt Romney says Vice President Joe Biden's trip to Quincy on Saturday to campaign for Democrat William Keating in the 10th District won't help Keating. Bostonist wants to know the last friggin' time Romney was even in Quincy, or any part of the 10th District, so we can properly guage how much we should, or shouldn't, value his opinion.

-- A 24-year old from Quincy went to court to answer to charges he allegedly robbed Paddy Barry’s pub in Quincy. He arrived carrying phones and jewelry he allegedly stole from a Quincy home Monday. He was held without bail for at least 30 days. [WCVB]
-- Former state senator Anthony Galluccio's parole begins July 14 after one member of the Massachusetts Parole Board approved his release Thursday. Galluccio went to jail in January for a probation violation. His parole requires he attend AA meetings and take regular drug and alcohol tests. [Globe]
Quincy was not spared the wrath of three days of bad weather that dumped up to 10 inches of rain on pretty much everyone in the Boston area. Quincy's Mayor Thomas Koch said the city's problems were actually made worse when, according to WCVB, "MassHighway drained water from the Expressway into neighborhoods." The Massachusetts Department of Transportation denied this allegation. Flooding could continue through Wednesday as swollen rivers and stressed dams continued to be an issue for places like Billerica and Waltham. [WCVB]
-- Sean Shanahan, a TSA employee whose responsibilities include patting down airline passengers, was arrested yesterday on multiple charges of sex crimes against a minor, including statutory rape. The 44-year-old Winthrop man is sure to become the poster boy for privacy advocates who oppose the TSA's full-body scanners. The alleged victim, a 14-year-old girl, was reportedly a friend of Shanahan's daughter who would spend the night at their house, giving Shanahan the opportunity for the alleged rapes. [Herald]

-- What began as your run-of-the-mill New Bedford fistfight ended in a smashed truck and death. A fight broke out early Wednesday morning between James Donnelly and, 20 of New Bedford, and Michael Raposo, 26 of Dartmouth, outside of a New Bedford Chinese joint. Raposo allegedly attacked Donnelly with a crowbar during the altercation, which did little good against the presumably gifted pugilist, who absconded with Raposo's keys and his pickup truck. Not to be outdone, Raposo allegedly leaped into the back of the truck, crowbar flying, as Donnelly sped away. Raposo's crowbar attack proved to be a suicidally fatal distraction when Donnelly lost control of the pickup, which flipped over, throwing Raposo to the pavement and killing him.

-- John Mentor, a 23-year-old Hyde Park man, was indicted this morning in the attempted murder of three Boston cops. Mentor allegedly fired a gun at the officers during an attempted drug arrest on April 13. District Attorney Daniel Conley said, "The evidence suggests a cold-blooded decision to shoot and kill Boston Police. But for the defendant’s bad aim and the officers’ immediate response, this could have been a multiple homicide." [Suffolk County District Attorney's Office]
-- 17-year-old Kiara Santiago of Roxbury pleaded not guilty yesterday to charges that she and accomplices invaded the home a 60-year-old Quincy man, robbed him, stripped him naked, and left him bound and gagged. The victim, Robert Noons, was a friend of Santiago's family, police say, and was relieved of $18,000, cash. The police report quotes Santiago as admitting that she and her four alleged accomplices planned to "rob Noons of all his drugs and his money," an interesting twist that might explain why the man had $18,000 in cash, but police have made no allegations that Noons possessed drugs. --For the third time in recent weeks, Quincy police have arrested people on drug charges who allegedly brought their children to apparent drug deals. On Thursday, a 21-year old Hyde Park woman brought her 4-week-old baby boy with her while making an alleged heroin delivery. Police allege the suspect admitted to having heroin hidden in her underwear when officers confronted her. The woman and a man who accompanied her were both charged with heroin trafficking. The baby was taken to Quincy Medical Center and police notified the state Department of Families and Children. Men allegedly selling cocaine, in March, and OxyContin, in April, brought young children with them. [Patriot Ledger]

-- An undercover Boston police officer shot an 18-year-old suspected drug dealer during a sting operation last night. Ariel Lara Aguasiva of Jamaica Plain was riding in the passenger seat of a car where an alleged heroin deal went down. When stopped by a marked police car, Aguasiva turned violent, according to police, and was subdued after a gunshot to his chest. He was treated and released by Massachusetts General Hospital. Aguasiva and Jorge Luis Ortiz Lara, 22, of Palmer, face a host of charges related to the incident. [BPDNews]
-- The Friday afternoon stabbing in Jamaica Plain may have been caused by pornography. Police have arrested Claribel Peralta, 21 of Boston, on charges that she stabbed her 33 year old boyfriend after flying into a rage when she discovered him watching pornography. Peralta had initially told police that she had come out of the bathroom in the victim's Amory Street apartment to find him pre-stabbed. [BPDNews; Herald]
-- A fight that began at a McDonald's last night escalated into a street brawl that resulted in two stabbings and landed eight in jail. Police say that three girls assaulted a fourth at a Roxbury McDonald's around 7:00pm last night, a fight that ended when an onlooker called 911. Police captured the three suspects, two 15 year-olds from Dorchester and a 16 year-old from Roxbury. But it didn't end there.
