We had a flashback yesterday afternoon around 4 p.m. We won't draw any conclusions from it yet, but, we liked what we saw. The Patriots frankly looked beat early in the fourth quarter, down 20-10 to the Ravens. And then, something changed. Tom Brady and Deion Branch got their Super Bowl MVP grooves back, the defense found a way to quash the Ravens attack, and Stephen Gostkowski looked like he could kick through a blizzard. more ›

The only way yesterday could have been more shocking and more sudden? If Nicolas Cage, dressed in a bear suit, had come out and slugged Tom Brady on the way out of the tunnel (see this clip, at 1:19, for what that may have looked like). At least that would have had the blessing of being over in a second and letting us flip over to a satisfying Celtics win. more ›

In some ways, the game was as ugly as the pink accents all over everything (yeah, we know, good cause and blah blah blah and all, but in the words of MAD Magazine, bleccch). In other ways, it was one of those tight, efficient Patriots game that may not be aesthetically pleasing but get the job done. Hank wasn’t there to get the crowd going and the normally loud crowd at Gillette seemed to have taken a Quaalude before the game. But then again, it’s not a real game. Nothing was at stake; even Tom Brady was bundled up on the sidelines like Nanook of the North. (Tom, it was 70 degrees.) Maybe it was the cool crisp air that got to the Pats, but even a push at the end didn’t get them the win. The Pats lost to the Ravens, 16-15. more ›
