--A truck crashed on the Revere Beach Parkway last night. No one was hurt, but the incident shut down the parkway in both directions. According to WBZ, "State police officials said a truck went under the overpass on Route 107 North heading toward Chelsea and smashed into the top of the Route 16 bridge, bringing concrete down onto the roadway and damaging Route 16." --Early this morning, a man was found dead at 50 Archdale Road in Roslindale. That spot is, in BPD lingo, "known to police" - five young men were arrested for illegal firearms back in 2006. --In an instance of incredibly bad timing, a man got shot last night after a Dorchester peace rally at Dudley Street Park. Apparently the shooters didn't get the memo about that whole peace thing. The shooters haven't been caught, but...
Spring training is just getting underway, but something will happen Saturday for the first time since the Red Sox clinched their first World Series win in 86 years. Saturday night the stars will be in alignment. Or, rather, the Sun, Earth, and the Moon will be in alignment for a total lunar eclipse – which only happens during a full moon.
It is starting to rain. The downpour is accompanied by thunderstorms and some violent lightning and flooding that promises to wreak havoc on area commutes and weekend plans throughout the Hub. Canceling plans to beat the heat at Revere Beach or make way to the Cape may be easy decisions to make – the question remains, however, if Melisa DeMauro will keep her vigil atop a tree through the bad weather. Since Wednesday she's been occupying the upper branches of a tree that falls close to the line between her and her neighbors home in Tyngsboro. Her tree-top vigil was an effort to save the tree from her neighbors who want to cut it down.
