Yankees Phish Fan Gets His Due

Remember Ian Ferris? This Yankees-loving Vermonter earned a brief moment in the spotlight when he found a way to scatter the seed of the Evil Empire onto the fabled green grass of Fenway Park. While visiting Fenway for the May 31 Phish concert, Ferris' feat was an effort to playfully plant - literally - a curse in the heart of Red Sox Nation.

Some alleged boneheads should have their Red Sox Nation cards revoked, and we're not talking about Hank Steinbrenner. In a scary incident reported in the Cambridge Chronicle, a man wearing Yankees attire got beat up outside the Cantab Lounge in Central Square early Sunday morning. From the Chronicle:

The New York Times did a flyover article about Boston now that Boston is a sports powerhouse. Why they choose to recognize this fact now is beyond us, but the author reveals a change in New York's attitude toward Boston. Instead of a blazing contempt (displayed in the past by Radar and Gawker), the New York Times is feeling some ambivalence now that Boston is winning games left and right. Here's a paragraph:

--The city of Boston is lawyering up big-time for an expected suit from Shawn Drumgold, a man wrongly convicted of the 1989 murder of a 12-year-old. Drumgold spent 15 years behind bars. [Boston Globe]
