ast Saturday, we headed out to the Museum of Science to check out the fourth annual Robot Sumo competition from Machine Science. 40 teams from local middle and high schools built and programmed robots with one mission: to push their opponents out of the circle. Unlike the 57 varieties of robotic combat that hit TV a few years back, the students' creations were not remote controlled--they had to be programmed to battle automatically. (More difficult, and a bit frightening, for the Terminator implications.)
