According to WCVB and MyFoxBoston.com, Taunton police arrested Paul Baran, 55, in connection with Thursday's fatal hit-and-run that killed a 17-year-old skateboarder in Taunton. Nicholas Silva-Thomas, 17, was killed while skateboarding with friends near Watson Pond at about 9:40 p.m. on Thursday. The driver fled with the car's headlights off. Baran will be arraigned on Monday morning in Taunton District Court on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident. He was arrested at his Taunton home on Saturday. [MyFoxBoston.com], [WCVB]

-- Boston police investigated a murder in Roslindale this weekend. The killing happened on Stillman Road, and cops found wrapped packages of "white rocklike substance" at the murder scene. [West Roxbury Transcript]
-- Boston police arrested the man that they say forced his hands down the pants of a 19-year-old woman in Jamaica Plain during the morning of February 4th. The suspect allegedly attacked the woman at the corner of Seaverns Ave. and Centre St.—near City Feed and Supply—before running to the Green Street T station, where authorities caught him on camera. Yelp Boston's "Weekly Yelp" newsletter this morning promises restaurants "Beyond the City Limits" where diners can eat al fresco. We thought we might find a gem or two to highlight in our own Stuff to Eat in the Suburbs series, but alas. It turns out that Yelp's editors just don't have a map. Of the nine restaurants listed, only four of them are actually outside of Boston's city limits, in Cambridge and Salem. The other five are located in Jamaica Plain, Roslindale, Allston, and Dorchester: all parts of Boston last time we checked. Kids, don't go to journalism school; the people who write this drek are going to be your editors when all the newspapers are gone.
-- It was a bloody weekend in Boston. Four people were killed in two shootings Saturday night and early Sunday morning in Dorchester. The first shooting, on Ogden Street, claimed the life of 26-year-old Okwudill Onujiogwie, whom police found shot dead shortly after 8 p.m. The second shooting, on Mount Ida Road, claimed three, Anthony Perry, 19, of Boston, Shacora Gaines, 20, of Brockton and Chantal Palmer, 20, of Brockton, who were sitting in their car outside of a party. A fourth passenger survived the attack. Police have announced no leads in either case, but the mayor's spokeswoman Dot Joyce said that "Boston police plan to monitor social websites, such as MySpace, more closely to look for the advertisement of parties." -- A 26-year-old man was shot in the head near a housing project in Roslindale last night around 8:30 p.m. He was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. [Roslindale Transcript]
-- Boston police nabbed a 15-year-old Hyde Park boy yesterday in connection with Monday night's shooting in Roslindale. The arrest was made based on eye-witness accounts of the crime, and the boy stands charged with assault with intent to murder and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon. [BPDNews]
-- Patrick Grier, who stands trial for the December 2008 murder of 17-year-old Deandre Barbosa, was ordered held without bail today, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney. Grier, a 20-year-old Dorchester man, allegedly shot Barbosa to death in broad daylight in Codman Square. Suffolk County District Attorney.
-- Boston Police Superintendent Robert Dunford is the subject of a internal affairs investigation after he allegedly pressured the Police Academy to turn a blind eye while his buddy, a drill instructor, had an illicit affair with one of his recruits. No formal rule prohibits Boston cops from getting together with other Boston cops, but the drill instructor's position of authority would leave open charges of sexual harassment if the allegations are true. -- Bus route 23, which runs from Ashmont in Dorchester to Ruggles in Roxbury, is no stranger to violence. Still, when Steven Phillips, a 32-year-old from Dorchester, allegedly stabbed two girls to whom he had allegedly and previously exposed himself, it might have set a new low. The latest on the case: The Suffolk County DA reports that Phillips is undergoing 20 days of psychiatric evaluation. [Globe]
--It's always fun when a story is headlined, "Is it raining weed?" Five Roslindale residents--with ages ranging from 14 to 22--were arrested after allegedly forcing their way into an apartment building and heading upstairs. After police showed up en masse, one suspect "dropped a bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana on the head of a detective” from a balcony. --The Executive Director of the Turnpike Authority wants to CharlieCard everything so that you can use your card at the tolls. While we're all for not having to save spare change, automation might make it easier to miss fare hikes. [Boston Herald]
--While the episode of a BPD officer holding up a Roslindale gas station is still fresh in our memory, two BPD officers are accused of breaking the law. One narcotics detective tested positive for steroids, and a domestic violence detective was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend. Did these two not get the memo? Don't become the bad guys. --Two men have been arrested in the murder of the woman whose body was found in a Dumpster in Dracut on Sunday. Middlesex DA Gerry Leone believes the murder stems from domestic violence. [Boston Globe]
--While the BPD's attempt to round up the city's criminal element was noble, it didn't work. Someone shot two brothers, a 12-year-old and an 18-year-old, through the window of their own home last night in Roslindale. They are in critical condition but improving. [Boston Globe, Boston Herald]
The past few days in Boston have been violent, and the BPD has its hands full. More information has come out about the shootings that happened yesterday afternoon. The most startling news? The three people who were shot in Roslindale at Metropolitan and Poplar yesterday--one of whom died--were in a car in a funeral procession for another crime victim.
--Michael T. Jones, the BPD officer arrested for holding up a Roslindale gas station, was arraigned today in the hospital. His lawyer offers an explanation for Jones' alleged behavior--alcohol. His lawyer also said Jones wasn't taking his medication. [WBZ, Boston Herald]
--A man was shot yesterday afternoon on Dorchester Avenue in what the Herald describes as an "ambush from behind." The 20-year-old victim was taken to the hospital but later died from his wounds. [BPD News, Boston Herald]
--A BPD officer allegedly held up the Best of Boston gas station in Roslindale. You read that right. A BPD officer held up a gas station yesterday afternoon.
--Craig Bigos, who hit a teenager while driving in Taunton, took off, and later surrendered to police, admitted that he was texting while driving. He initially thought the 13-year-old he hit was a mailbox. [Boston Globe]
A 17-year-old from Roslindale was arrested for stealing a gun from an MBTA agent at the Chinatown stop last night.
