Meet the Spartans, which is now at 3% on Rotten Tomatoes after starting off in the negative, is enjoying the number-one position at the box office this week. Meanwhile, Sylvester Stallone's comeback vehicle of-sorts, Rambo, wound up in second place.

This weekend's Hollywood blockbuster openings are even more depressing than usual, with an ancient Stallone (looking like "an overcooked Ball Park frank," according to E), a cybercrime flick, and a take on a decade-old SNL skit "leading" the pack. Rambo, Untraceable, and Meet the Spartans (which currently has a negative rating at Rotten Tomatoes, something we haven't seen very often, if ever!) will open this weekend, most likely to some box office clamor despite the high probability that all these films will send discerning viewers clamoring for the exits.
Cloverfield whupped on its competition at the box office this weekend and set a record for January. As Reel Hub noted on Friday, people couldn't decide if they loved it or hated it, which means the movie was at least interesting. 27 Dresses seemed like the kind of movie Julia Roberts would have turned down back in the days when she was shooting all those bridal movies like Runaway Bride and My Best Friend's Wedding.

Long holiday weekends with the family (families for some) will often lead many to that "I have to get the hell away from here" tipping point. Now, Bostonist isn't intimating that going home is a miserable experience for all. But for those who have been out on their own for a little while now, that shock of reverting back to the days of living under the family's roof is somewhat inevitable. Negative to that one, too. A safe bet is to just hit up the movies. Every year there is a slew of movies released throughout the long Thanksgiving weekend.
