A 57-year old Massachusetts Highway was killed on Tuesday by an alleged drunk driver on Route 9 in Framingham. Gregory Vilidnitsky was left unconscious in the breakdown lane bleeding and later died after being hit by a pickup truck driven by Jeremy Gardner of Bridgton, Maine. Gardner fled the scene and Walter Smith of Barre, Vermont took over the wheel and tried to drive away. Construction workers and Middlesex County sheriffs working a detail detained the suspects until police arrived. Gardner was held on $100,000 cash bail at Framingham District Court and is charged with his second operating under the influence offense; motor vehicle homicide; speeding; and leaving the scene of an accident, Smith has a $50,000 cash bail with his third operating under the influence offense; and leaving the scene of an accident, All charges alleged until proven under law.
