The Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad (MBCR) has an ongoing Tornado Relief Drive to benefit Western and Central Massachusetts communities devastated by the June 1st tornadoes. The drive, which began on Thursday, July 6 and lasts through July 20, is a joint effort with the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Commuters can donate bottled water, canned food and other non-perishable food, toiletries, underclothing for both adults and kids, and sheets by dropping them off under the clock at South Station and at the North Station Information counter. Donations will be delivered to Worcester via commuter rail where Red Cross and the Salvation Army will coordinate distribution.

Dick and Rick Hoyt are racing in the Feaster Five Thanksgiving Day Road Race in Andover. The Salvation Army in Central Square delivered Thanksgiving meals to 329 households and 1,079 people, including 475 children under 5.

I wanted to give my extra clothes to the Katrina victims but I heard on Morning Edition that physical goods aren’t the best donations.
