Tim Duncan and the city of Boston have had an interesting relationship over the years. It looked like the big guy would be coming here as a reward for the dismal 1997 Celtics season; Rick Pitino [make evil eye sign, spit on ground] even took the C's coaching job assuming that he'd get to coach Tim. As we all know, the Spurs' tank-job paid off, Duncan went to San Antonio, and Pitino stayed. Just to rub salt in the wounds, Duncan and the Spurs came to Boston every year, and beat the Celtics here every year.

So much for the idea that the thrilling shootout win over Buffalo would spark the Bruins. They followed up that great win with an official stinkeroo last night, turning a 3-2 lead into a 6-3 embarassing loss at the hands of the Panthers. Zdeno Chara, Glen Murray (yay!) and Marco Sturm scored for the B's, but then the defense broke down and Tim Thomas stopped looking like himself for a while. Bad news all around.
More than any other game this season, last night's Celtics game resembled an episode of Full House. There were a lot of laughs at the beginning, some serious moments towards the end, but it all wrapped up very neatly, complete with an "awwww" track from the studio audience.
Poor Chicago. True, the Bulls could have made things interesting at the TD Banknorth Garden on Friday night if they'd actually shown up ready to play. But we imagine that they knew, as they sat in the locker room before warmups, that the Celtics weren't going to let anyone speculate about Boston's ability to bounce back from a loss.

Back in January Bostonist was watching a story about four Chinese Nationals that were reportedly headed for Boston. The sky seemed to be falling and the terror threat level was on the verge of breaching orange. Mitt Romney even flew back from DC, missing out on the pomp and circumstance of the second inaugural celebrations. On May 12 the mystery of the chatter seems to have been revealed with the sentencing of Christian Delgado Gomez. In a story coming to Bostonist from San Antonio the four undocumented Chinese Nationals may have been those on board a Cessna piloted by Gomez. Gomez was arrested on January 24 and pled guilty a month later to one count of transporting an illegal immigrant, an additional three counts were dropped for his plea. He was sentenced to six months in jail and a $500 fine.
