Weren't we told that losing the Lottery wasn't a big deal? Since this was the most loaded draft in years, the story went, the Celtics would happily grab a good player with the #5 pick that would complement Paul Pierce and the burgeoning youth movement, and join in on the team that would compete soon and for years to come. Yeah; not so much. Like a rube on a carnival midway, Danny Ainge fell for...

Georgetown took Boston College out of the NCAA tournament, 62 to 55. All in all, it wasn't a bad showing, especially since one of BC's big guns, Sean Williams, got suspended earlier in the season. We could wonder what might have been with Williams around, but it probably wouldn't have made a difference. Roy Hibbert, of the Hoyas, was just too much to deal with. The dude is 7-foot-2! But all was not lost in...
Today is the big day for the Boston College Eagles as they play tenth-seeded Texas Tech in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Even if they're a little down, even if they lost Sean Williams, they can take Texas Tech. We'd love nothing more to see Bobby Knight silenced, just for a moment. To motivate you to root against Mr. Crazymaker himself and his Texas team, here's Bobby Knight's top soundbites. The "game faces"...
A real jawdropper hit the Boston College basketball program. Two players, center Sean Williams and forward Akida McLain have been kicked off the team. Thusfar, all involved have been tight-lipped about the reasons for the sudden booting. ESPN notes that both players have been in trouble before: "Williams was suspended once for marijuana possession, while McLain had been suspended for his involvement in a counterfeiting scam." Despite the murky circumstances, it's clear what this means...
The #7 BC Eagles take on the WVU Mountaineers at noon today at MSG, in their third meeting this season. The sportsbooks have the Eagles as a 5.5 point favorite despite BC beating WVU this season by margins of 20 and 12. WVU did pummel an uninspired Providence team Wednesday afternoon and they can point to their two victories against Pitt. Pitt did whip BC last week, however many say that sometimes a team can learn more from a loss than a win. Craig Smith and Jared Dudley earned Big East 1st Team Honors, Al Skinner is the Big East Coach of the Year, and Sean Williams made the All Rookie Team. Yet, the Big East is still bitter over the ACC move and it has been seen in the officiating and the lack of trophy ceremonies. BC should be extremely motivated to win the Big East tournament and give the final Heisman to Mike Tranghese and his awesome smile.
With the BIG EAST mens basketball tournament about to begin it means that it's about time for some awards to be handed out. Yesterday the Boston College Eagles provided two of the six players named to the All-BIG EAST First Team, Jared Dudley and Craig Smith. Sean Williams, a freshman on the team, was named to the All-Rookie Team, and Coach Al Skinner was named the Coach of the Year. When you have a...
