Occupy Boston hasn't been getting that much media attention, from our perspective, until today. However, WCVB has some interesting bits of news on today's demonstrations on their Live Wire twitter updates.

While chants of "Fired up! Ready to go!" echoed through the World Trade Center, Massachusetts political heavy-weights rallied behind the historic presidential bid of Senator Barack Obama. Senator Kerry's introduction spoke of experience that comes from "wisdom, instinct, gut, and courage - not age" and he stated that "history gives us moments and we must decide what to do with them." When Senator Obama finally took the stage he quoted Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in saying that "the fierce urgency of now" is what has led him to run for the presidency. Judging from the reaction of the 8,000 strong in attendance, Massachusetts is ready to grasp the moment and put their faith in Senator Obama.
Democrats seem to be coming out of the woodwork to announce their plans to be contenders in the 2008 presidential election. Senator John Kerry made a different step today and announced that he'll be seeking re-election to his senate seat rather than a shot at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. It was a positive, politically crafted message. He's running for re-election, it wasn't an announcement that he would not be running for President. In his missive to...
When Bostonist read that Senator Kerry served on a jury last week, our response was, "Uh huh. So?" Because Kerry is boooooring. He may be smart, sure, and maybe even a decent senator, but it's hard to imagine Kerry in the jury room wielding a knife to prove a point, Twelve-Angry-Men style. But when we heard that President Bush got the call in Waco, Texas, all we could think about was how to make sure a reality show comes out of the whole thing. Because Bush may not be smart, but dammit he's funny. Of course, Bush is, at this point, only part of the venire (Latin for "bunch of people sitting around a courthouse for a day") so there's a decent chance he won't get picked. Also, if it's a criminal case, Bostonist has got to believe the defense attorney will strike Bush from the jury. After all, if Tom DeLay can get rid of a judge in Texas for being a Democrat, surely someone could get rid of a juror for being not just a Republican, but the Republican.
Throughout last year's presidential election, media accounts, debate performances, and other appearances led to the establishment of very clear public assumptions about personality of both major-party candidates. While President Bush has for years been seen as a verbally-challenged simpleton, our Senator Kerry developed the reputation for being an intellectual and overly-complex orator.
