While the Bruins of the Bobby Orr era knew how to enjoy themselves, it looks like the current, 2011 Stanley Cup champions are equally adept in that regard as well. The Bruins, in the midst of an ongoing celebration of the team's first Stanley Cup victory in 39 years, amassed a staggering bar tab of $156,679.74 on Saturday night at Shrine nightclub at Foxwoods. They earned every cent of that bill, even the $100,000.00 bottle of Ace of Spades "Midas" champagne. more ›

After the Bruins unleashed a 12-goal barrage over the course of games three and four that tied the Stanley Cup Final at 2-2, the Vancouver Canucks moved to within one victory of winning the Stanley Cup thanks to a 1-0 shutout win in game five last night. more ›

Depending on who you ask, the pressure is on and not on the Bruins entering the second game of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals down 1-0 after losing 2-0 in the first game. Timing is everything for the Bruins lately. They're riding a hot streak now by winning six of their last nine games, including a 3-2 decision last night against the New York Islanders. We can enjoy another edition of "I Hate Phil Kessel" night when Toronto visits TD Garden tonight. But, Kessel isn't front and center for Bruins fans as a player not playing is generating interest. Shawn Thornton is sitting out tonight's game with 40 stitches and an impressive scar from Tuesday's game against Chicago. That scar is the only proof the Blackhawks participated in that game. Let's just say Thornton would play if Chicago was on the schedule tonight. Michael Ryder skates in place of Thornton. Steven Kampfer fills in for Johnny Boychuk. [WEEI.com], [Globe] more ›

Patriots fans everywhere appear to be getting exactly what they want for Christmas: A healthy Tom Brady. Yes! Brady had the flu earlier this week and actually missed an entire practice on Wednesday and was "limited" on Thursday. But, Friday saw Brady fully involved in practice. "Doing good, ready for this game. Ready for Santa Claus and ready to play some football," he said. He said he missed no preparation for Buffalo as he focused more on off-field preparations - film, treatment - to stay sharp. more ›

How would you handle it? Straight up revenge, going after Matt Cooke? Eye-for-an-eye, going after Sidney Crosby? Or just try to win the game? That's the dilemma the Bruins face tonight, with Cooke and the Penguins in town for the first time since he knocked Marc Savard out for the year with the famous cheapshot to the back of Savvy's head. more ›

So said Bruins coach Claude Julien, and it's a lesson that his boys took to heart 3,000 miles away. Back home, it's a message that didn't really sink in. Let's start with the good news. more ›

There are some games the Celtics need to read the papers to get motivated for. Tonight is not one of them. The Atlanta Hawks, as you well know, improbably stretched the C's to the limit in the first round of the playoffs last year, taking every game in Atlanta, where they meet tonight. And it took some last minute heroics to dispatch them at the Garden last month. And the Hawks' website is calling this a rivalry, and bringing in Ludacris for halftime entertainment. And yet tickets are still available. Atlanta needs work on this rivalry stuff. more ›

Nothing is getting to the Bruins right now. Nothing can disturb their calm, shake their confidence, rattle their cages. Buffalo jumps out to a 3-1 lead in the first five minutes? Pfffft. Just nod grimly and get back to work. more ›
