Despite a massive manhunt of around 350 law enforcement personnel involving SWAT teams, the FBI, and local officers from surrounding towns, two or three suspects in the shooting of Woburn officer Robert DeNapoli are still at-large. He responded to a robbery at Musto Jewelers on Cambridge Road and was shot multiple times in both legs. He was treated at Lahey Clinic and is in good condition.

An unidentified Woburn police officer was shot during an attempted robbery at Musto Jewelers at 186 Cambridge Road. The shooting reportedly took place in a parking lot behind the building where the store is. WCVB reported one suspect was caught and police are searching for two others, one who fled the scene on foot and another in a car. The officer is being treated at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. In December of 2010, Woburn officer John Maguire, 60, was killed during a robbery attempt at Kohl's department store.
-- Patriots defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth avoided a trial for sexual assault by pleading no contest to simple assault today in Washington, D.C. Superior Court. A waitress accused Haynesworth of fondling her breasts at a private party at the W Hotel in D.C. According to a plea agreement, the charges will be dismissed if Haynesworth doesn't break any laws for 18 months. He must complete 160 hours of community service and undergo an assessment for counseling. He must avoid the alleged victim and pay $250 to her fund. [Globe]
Albert Arroyo, 49, of Roslindale, the former firefighter who competed as a bodybuilder while claiming disability, was acquitted on two counts of mail fraud on Sunday in U.S. District Court. Arroyo was allegedly injured in 2008 after falling down a flight of stairs. He began exercising and bodybuilding after suffering a back injury in 2000. According to WCVB and MyFoxBoston.com, Taunton police arrested Paul Baran, 55, in connection with Thursday's fatal hit-and-run that killed a 17-year-old skateboarder in Taunton. Nicholas Silva-Thomas, 17, was killed while skateboarding with friends near Watson Pond at about 9:40 p.m. on Thursday. The driver fled with the car's headlights off. Baran will be arraigned on Monday morning in Taunton District Court on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident. He was arrested at his Taunton home on Saturday. [MyFoxBoston.com], [WCVB]
A Chelmsford man pleaded not guilty to drunk driving and motor vehicle homicide charges and was released on personal recognizance today in Lowell District Court after he allegedly ran over and killed his wife outside of their home on Wednesday. Harry Conover, Jr., 73, and Sandra Conover, 73, allegedly argued prior to him getting into his car to leave their home. His wife reportedly followed him to his car and somehow was run over as he tried to drive away. A probable cause hearing is set for September 1. [Globe]
The four-year old boy shot at Harambee Park in Dorchester on Monday night was hit by a stray bullet fired in a gang-related shooting, police said. There were reports of multiple gunshots fired before several young men were seen fleeing towards Blue Hill Avenue. This contradicts initial police reports of shooters on motorbikes. Two men were shot and killed in Boston this weekend in two seperate incidents. On Saturday night, a man was shot near Eustis and Dearborn streets in Roxbury. He was pronounced dead at Boston Medical Center. On Sunday, a second man was shot in Dorchester near the intersection of East Cottage and Sumner streets. Police are investigating both shootings. Two men face charges after a Quincy woman was shot by a gun fired from an apartment on the floor above her. Joshua Perry, 26, fired the gun and pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, and firing a gun within 500 feet of a dwelling. The gun belongs to Christopher King, who will likely be summoned to court for improper storage of a large-capacity firearm. The victim was released from Boston Medical Center. A 51-year old Brockton grandmother was shot and killed on Saturday allegedly by a Brockton teenager.
Michael Varano, 52, of Bridgewater was arrested, for robbing the St. Thomas Aquinas parish center in Bridgewater, for the second time in three months for breaking and entering and larceny on Friday. His 11-year old son was with him during the robberies. Varano was arraigned on April 6 on 49 charges after breaking into 16 homes. During one heist, he brought his 4-year old daughter with him. A 19-year old male was shot and killed at the Savin Hill MBTA station on Saturday. Police were investigating a house on Savin Hill Street that was allegedly linked to some possible suspects that were detained there. This house was involved in more than 100 police incidents in the past 12 years. Police said a fight led to the shooting. [Herald], [WCVB]
A shootout in Springfield on Saturday left a city police officer and a state trooper shot and a third person dead. The incident began as a robbery/double shooting at Bill Brown's House of Beauty at 946 State Street.
Charges against four Pace University students arrested after Easton's Danroy Henry was shot and killed on October 17, 2010 were dropped by a town judge in New York on Thursday. The players faced charges of disorderly conduct, obstruction and criminal mischief against the teammates. The officer who shot Henry was not indicted. [Herald]
Newton Police released the 911 call - see below - from Thursday's jewelry store shooting. The caller was obviously terrified as he shouted "There's bullets all over the place." The caller, an employee of Cristofori Jewelers, also reported to police there was "a potential hit," meaning he believed someone was shot. Police said no serious injuries resulted from the shooting. The caller told police he had a weapon he did not fire.
CTV reported that Montreal police will actually open a criminal investigation into the hit that inflicted a severe concussion and a fractured vertebra on Pacioretty. Capt. Angelo Nieves confirmed Patriots safety Brandon Meriweather was "present during a shooting...being investigated" by the Orange County sheriff's department. Police want to interview Meriweather about the incident, but didn't "characterize" his status.
John Morgan represents two men who were shot at a house party in Apopka, Fla., on February 27. They reportedly accused Patriots safety Brandon Meriweather of shooting them despite initially refusing to cooperate with a police investigation. NESN says no police report names Meriweather in connection with this incident.
Harwich Police are investigating a suspected violent assault and rape after finding an unconscious woman in the Wishing Well motel on Main Street in Harwich. The woman, reportedly in her 40’s, was allegedly raped on Friday, the day she was hospitalized. The motel owner saw the victim unconscious and having a seizure on the floor in the room. An alleged bank robber is at large after fleeing from police outside the Century Bank on Route 16 in Everett following a robbery at the bank. Police confronted a man outside the bank as he got into a getaway car. The driver accelerated towards the officer who responded by firing his gun and hitting the driver. The driver was caught in Saugus, arrested and sent to Massachusetts General Hospital. [Globe]
Parents 53-year-old William Spada and 51-year-old Patricia Spada were killed, and their 26-year-old daughter Deidre Spada was injured, after a domestic dispute, according to Norfolk DA William Keating. The daughter's boyfriend, who lives with the family at Carmichael Circle, told police that William Spada shot his wife and daughter before turning the gun on himself. Multiple people were shot on Sunday at the Same Old Place pizza restaurant in the 600 block of Centre Street in Jamaica Plain. Three patrons had an argument that turned into a shootout that left two in critical condition and two in serious condition. A female bystander was also hurt. Earlier tonight the Herald reported one person had died. As of about 11 p.m., the Herald reported four people were shot and hospitalized. A suspect is in custody, according to the Globe.

An unidentified man is dead after shooting himself with a Lynn police officer's service weapon on Thursday morning outside Lynn City Hall near Lynn District Court. The officer was on a paid detail for a Verizon crew when the man confronted him, took his gun and shot himself. Police didn't name the officer, but said he was a 17-year veteran. A witness said "I heard one bang and thought it was a tire blowing out. Then I heard a second shot and when I looked I saw the guy down on the ground." [Globe]
Someone shot two kittens with a pellet gun, killing one and blinding another one. The incident happened in Worcester on Thursday, and is being treated at the Weymouth Landing Cat Clinic and Hotel. Veterinarian Deborah Lindsey removed the lead pellet lodged in the three-month old female kitten's head near its jugular vein. She is eating well and walking. The male kitten was put down. -- Robenson Daniel, 20, a Wheelock College student, pleaded not guilty in the stabbing death of Elhadji Ndiaye last week at Regis College. Daniel's attorney said he was defending himself. He was held without bail and charged with murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon, and armed assault with the intent to murder. [Globe]
