We wrote on the Red Sox recycling jerseys about a month ago, and now the team is taking green to a new level with some hot new solar panels. The panels went into effect today, and will help heat water used throughout the park. The panels are expected to replace 37% of the gas formerly used to heat water, eliminating 18 tons of CO2 emissions annually. This isn't the first effort the Sox have made......

This Bostonist always pictured solar panels being best-suited to dot the rooftops of sun-baked, equatorial locales. But according to the Associated Press (via the Herald), the Commonwealth is quickly becoming a leader in solar energy. The AP piece talked to one solar executive whose biggest customer is Germany--not a country known for its tropical lifestyle.
