We wrote on the Red Sox recycling jerseys about a month ago, and now the team is taking green to a new level with some hot new solar panels. The panels went into effect today, and will help heat water used throughout the park. The panels are expected to replace 37% of the gas formerly used to heat water, eliminating 18 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
This Bostonist always pictured solar panels being best-suited to dot the rooftops of sun-baked, equatorial locales. But according to the Associated Press (via the Herald), the Commonwealth is quickly becoming a leader in solar energy.
