--Someone shot a Brockton cab driver in the head yesterday morning. The shot caused the driver's foot to hit the gas, sending the car crashing into three other ones. The driver, Edward Conley, had been sent to the street where he died to fulfill a cab request. However, the motive is hazy. Conley still had money on his person, according to sources. All that is known about the subject is that he wore a gray......

--A man was shot yesterday afternoon on Dorchester Avenue in what the Herald describes as an "ambush from behind." The 20-year-old victim was taken to the hospital but later died from his wounds. [BPD News, Boston Herald] --Fallout from the BPD officer arrested for holding up a Roslindale gas station. The family of Michael T. Jones is surprised. --There are times when a police officer must stifle laughter. And yesterday had to be one of those times when police investigated an alarm that had gone off in a Dorchester house. The incident caused quite a stir, as the owner told police there were guns in the house. When a SWAT team forced its way in, they discovered 41-year-old Laura Buchman - in the clothes dryer. She must have smelled spring fresh. She's been......

So, Gawker started up this feature on "The Poors," in which they ruthlessly mock media encounters with those of us who don't have trust funds. Gawker might be interested in a recent front-page article by the Globe about the South Bay Center, the big ol' mall that is apparently a crossroads of class conflict. The form of Sarah Schweitzer's article isn't the problem. Well, maybe the fact that the Globe put a story about a......

--Sean Stevens and Peter Berdvosky can breathe a sigh of relief now that they are officially off the blotter with a slap on the wrist. The artists who were hired by the Cartoon Network and Interference, Inc., to hang the Mooninites throughout Boston will do community service. Instead of offering the public another '70s hair comedy routine, the two had more substantial things to say this time around. The Herald quoted Stevens as saying, "I......

Since November the Boston Police Department has been bringing a little bit of the blotter to the blogosphere. Reports of daily incidents, updates on publicly reported crime, announcements, and media corrections have been available on the BPDNews.com website. As usual Hollywood, well, LA, is getting all the attention. The AP picked up a story last week emanating from the LA Times and the Times of London about the Los Angeles Police Departments new blog. Apparently......

When Filene's was bought by Federated Department Stores, Inc. this past February for $17 billion, many anticipated changes to Downtown Crossing. After already going through an identity crisis (changing from Boston's own Jordan Marsh to Macy's), the Macy's storefront has always remained a competitor with Filene's and her basement across the street. This recent buyout of Filene's now leaves Federated, who happens to own Macy's too, with two stores across the street from one another.......

Yesterday Bostonist was stuck on Mass Ave for a long long time. Traveling through South Bay to Dorchester at 6:30 p.m. didn’t seem like such a bad idea, but apparently everyone in Boston thought the same thing -- it was trouble. Perhaps it was just the fact that we were actually in our car at a time normally called rush-hour, perhaps it is because we never drive that way during normal hours, or maybe......
