Former Red Sox pitcher Derek Lowe was charged with drunk driving after being stopped for racing another driver in Georgia. In addition to the DUI charge, Lowe faces reckless driving and making an improper lane change. Former Red Sox outfielder Carl Everett was released on $5,000 bail two days after pointing a gun at his wife's head during an argument.

In New York, 13 muggings have been perpetrated since January by a man in a Red Sox hat. He does his thing on the subway, mainly against women, and has taken cash, bank cards, cameras, phones an i-Pods. He gets around, too, as he has struck in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens. Newsday describes the suspect as a "Boston fan" and decided to include a reference to David Ortiz and Kevin Youkilis in their coverage. Bostonist is not laughing.
