Tito Jackson won 82% of the vote on Tuesday in the Boston City Council District 7 special election. Challenger Cornell Mills, ex-state Sen. Dianne Wilkerson's son, garnered 16% of the vote. The vote was actually 2,829 to 556. The Herald said there are over 30,000 voters in District 7.

The Boston City Council voted 11-1 to remove Councilor Chuck Turner from the Boston City Council after he was convicted in a federal corruption case.
The special election to replace John Tobin as Boston’s District 6 City Councilor on November 16 will include Matt O’Malley and Jim Hennigan. In Tuesday's preliminary special election, O'Malley was the clear winner by being selected on more than 50% of ballots cast. O'Malley got over 3,700 votes and won West Roxbury and Jamaica Plain. Elections aren't free, and the special election just won by Republican Scott Brown was no different. It may ultimately cost the state some $7 million. Tomorrow, two debates will take place that might help you make a decision in the special election race to fill Ted Kennedy's senate seat. First, the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce sponsors a debate between the Republican candidates Scott Brown and Jack E. Robinson tomorrow at 8am. It's too late to register (aka pay through the nose) to attend, sadly, but we'll try to round up some reactions for you.
