Jose Canseco to be Punched in the Face

Jose Canseco was a Red Sox for a minute, but we're guessing that there are at least a few people in New England who would like to see the wife beating steroids advocate take a blow or two to the noggin. It turns out that we aren't the only people who think so.

Boston Blotter: Brockton Apartment Shootout Kills One

-- A man went on a daytime shooting spree in a Brockton apartment house this afternoon that killed one and left two in the hospital. The gunman fled the scene in his car after police responded to the shootings and engaged cops in a high-velocity shoot-out. The incident came to a close when the gunman's car collided with that of a passerby, ending the getaway and sending the suspect to the hospital. Despite close calls, no police were reported injured. Three men were arrested today on charges that they set fire to the predominately black Macedonia Church in Springfield following the election victory of Barack Obama. The incident was a part of a small spate of racially-motivated crimes that broke out in isolated parts of the country on Election Day. The fire did $2 million worth of damage to the church. [Globe]

The Globe reports that arson is suspected in a Springfield church fire that happened early Wednesday morning following Barack Obama's victory in the presidential election. Macedonia Church of God in Christ had been under construction and about 75% complete. The predominantly black congregation has pledged to rebuild, although neighbors had protested the initial construction of the church in a residential area. Bishop Bryant J. Robinson Jr., who heads the church, suspects the fire might have been a hate crime.

-- The Dorchester offices of ACORN, the national political organization, were found ransacked this morning. The offices, which are located on Adams St. in Fields Corner, were looted of three desktop computers as well as other equipment. Employees of the group believe that the burglary might be the result of the national political ire that presidential candidate John McCain has whipped up around ACORN, whom he has accused of possibly "destroying the fabric of our democracy" with its voter registration drives. No arrests have been made. [Dorchester Reporter]

Along with an 30 year old male accomplice, the 27-year-old Dorchester woman allegedly blocked the victim in the drive-thru line, pulled her from her car, and slammed her head into the pavement. Both suspects have been taken into custody. [BPDNews]

--A truck crashed into a house in Brockton early this morning. Five people were injured. Not to be jaded, but does either a truck or a car crash into a house every weekend? [WCVB]

--Bostonist hasn't seen a "flagrant foul," or a sports-related blotter entry, in some time. The bad situation that was the Super Bowl loss just got worse for New England Patriots defensive back Willie Andrews, who was busted driving an unregistered car and having pot on him in Lowell. If it had happened to anyone one else, on any other day, no one would have cared. But the Herald points out that Andrews has a record. Uh, Not-So-Big Willie Style, anyone?
