As the case against Arlington Senator Jim Marzilli continues to develop, more women are stepping forward with accusations. Although no additional charges have been filed, he already has plenty after Tuesday's debacle, as many as 5 women are saying they were also the victims of Marzilli's inappropriate comments and advances. The tragedy of this story is that Senator Marzilli has been regarded as a progressive lawmaker who is known for his environmentally sound policies......

We've talked plenty about wind turbines. Now local legislators seem to be setting even more green goals. Legislators have proposed setting mandates to increase the blending of biofuels with heating oil. The Globe also reports that the legislature isn't stopping with biofuel: "The bill filed yesterday also would exempt from the state's 23-cent gasoline tax any gasoline that contains ethanol produced from plant products other than corn. The exemption would give gasoline dealers a financial......

If you're in East Boston, it's time to vote for State Representative of the First Suffolk district, the seat vacated by Anthony Petruccelli when he won a State Senate spot. Here are the candidates, all Democrats: Carlo Basile - Basile is officially a Democrat, but he is more of a moderate - or an undercover elephant - in that he endorsed Romney in the past and worked for Kerry Healey's failed attempt to be governor.......

Sometimes you think that a story is over and done. Take yesterday's election for the State Senate seat vacated by Jarrett Barrios. Cambridge politician Anthony Galluccio won. End of story, right? Well, David Harris at the Cambridge Chronicle blogged yesterday that a Chronicle reporter received an unnecessarily rude reception at the Galluccio office: Staffers busily escorted the reporter out the door and… locked it behind her. Galluccio was not in his office at the time.......

The Cambridge Chronicle and Blue Mass Group are reporting that Anthony Galluccio won the State Senate seat vacated by Jarrett Barrios in today's special election. While Tim Flaherty had the most backing and Galluccio was saddled with a drunk-driving record, Galluccio also had the name recognition since he has been involved with Cambridge politics for so long. The only thing that matters is getting people to the polls and having them remember your name once......

Banner week for SFist as the site's new editor introduced himself -- hooray for Brock! While the NY Times weighed in on SF's mayoral race, only SFist had the (insert tongue firmly into cheek) hard-hitting latest on candidate/activist Josh Wolf. Coverage of a protest vs. gentrification spawned a fantastic debate amongst SFist's readers. Finally, from the sublime to the ridiculous: video of a man that confused a Board of Supes meeting with "open mic......

Anthony Petruccelli defeated his other Democratic opponent, Dan Rizzo, in the Democratic primary for who would replace Robert Travaglini (aka "T-Vag") for State Senate. The primary turned out to be the real deal since Republicans couldn't find an opponent. Raja Mishra of the Globe reported that Petruccelli, currently a representative of East Boston, won 59 percent of the vote according to the latest tallies. The Herald noted that Petruccelli took 85 percent of the vote......

From the "You Do Know There's an Election Today, Right?" department: Tomorrow is the election for the person who replace former State Senate President Robert Travaglini, affectionately known around here as "T-Vag." Anyone who lives in the First Suffolk and Middlesex District (parts of Boston, Cambridge, Revere, and Winthrop) will be interested. So let's get started. The men who want to replace T-Vag in the hearts and minds of Democrats are Dan Rizzo and Anthony......

Vincent "Buddy" Cianci, former mayor of Providence who is currently in the federal pokey for conspiracy, is coming to Boston, and Boston is welcoming him with open arms. Cianci's life story has spawned the rebirth of Providence, a documentary movie, a musical, the christening of a junior-high school on Family Guy, and a pasta sauce. To call him "colorful" would be an understatement. He's going into the boutique hotel business at Fifteen Beacon on May......

Mayor Thomas Menino gave his "State of the City" address at the Strand Theater in Dorchester Tuesday night. And public safety was high on the agenda. Menino tried to warm up the audience by referencing the nickname he earned at last summer's hip-hop festival - "T-Mizzy." (So does that make Travaglini "T-Vag"? If so, we vow that we're going to use that nickname for the state senate president from now on!) After some awkward......

Adding another holiday (um, Evacuation Day?) to the calendar, the State Legislature is on the way to approving a day off for sales tax in the Commonwealth again this year. Last year, consumers went wild, spending $400 million on the one sales-tax-free day in August. The proposed bill was set to win approval and would have established this year's tax free day on August 13, but it has been amended to include August 14, the......

It looks like the Curtatone family is trying to install a little dynasty up in Somerville. According to a piece on The Somerville News blog, Mayor Joe Curtatone's sister Maria Curtatone is throwing her hat in the ring for the State Senate seat held by the late Charlie Shannon. While common sense would seem to suggest that it's good timing to run for a Senate seat in a district which encompasses much of the city......

The Stem Cell debate has come to the Hub. As expected Senator Ted Kennedy is butting heads with Governor Mitt Romney. The Governor opposes the expanded use of embryonic stem cells in research for moral reasons. His claim that you must create life and then discard it, this, he claims, would put us closer to "barbarism." Kennedy is working at the federal level with a bill that would lift the ban on funding for the......
