The Globe actually ran this headline "Workers doubted ceiling method" over the same picture on the front page of today's paper. Only days after the tragic accident that's closed Big Dig tunnels and increased skepticism of the entire project, illustrations and diagrams of epoxy filled tubes with bolts inserted have become commonplace. Romney, caught jacket off, with a metal phallus in his hand attempting to demonstrate something to an audience has so much more potential than this images delivers. The 5' marking on the upper left corner of the whiteboard, the secondary illustration on the board, and especially the look of surprise Romney is showing in the image all had so much potential for a story more along the lines of "Governor Abandons Abstinence-Only Sex Education." But as far as awkward phallus photos go we're making a stretch on this post – it's no Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg crotch hug. more ›

This year attendance numbers were drastically down in movie theaters. That was the mantra being blasted at anyone who'd listen. When asked what was causing this, industry experts presented cases such as movie piracy, home movie theaters gaining in popularity, and if pressed enough, the waning quality of movies in general. Last week the Imperial March and Star Wars Themes were at audible hum all around the hub as movie goers watched the final installment of the Star Wars prequel series. Rumors have been floating around about Lucas’ possible intentions to develop the prequel’s prequel. The buzz this week has shifted (or taken the ferry) to another John Williams score: the theme to Jaws. JawsFest was hosted by Martha’s Vineyard over the weekend celebrated the 30th anniversary of the release of Jaws, the movie which made the Vineyard into Amity Island and home to Bruce, the mechanical great white. Following around a replica of the mechanical shark were not only fans but rumors. Today Bostonist has heard not only about a Lucas prequel but a Speilberg sequel. Bostonist doesn’t usually listen to Hollywood gossip. In the rare case movie gossip involves the Bay State we like to think it might be true. We’re really looking forward to a Jaws 5, though we could just be dissapointed to learn that we saw it last year. more ›
