-- Sterlynn Robbins, 23, of Connecticut allegedly threatened to blow up Stonehill College and kill two staff members. Robbins was kicked out of Stonehill in 2009. Robbins sent multiple text messages to a female student last week that contained the threats. He said: "Yea do me a favor. Be at Stonehill the day I blow it up...It’s not hard to get on campus and do what I need to do. The school already stripped me of everything...I don’t even care if they do kill me in my attempt. At least my pathetic life will be over.” Robbins is charged with transmission of a threat to injure the person of another and faces up to five years in jail and a $250,000 in fines. He'll be arraigned on Monday. [WHDH], [Globe]

-- A student at Stonehill College was arrested by Brockton police on Monday for allegedly raping an eight-year old girl multiple times while working as a tutor in the federally funded America Counts program. The student, a junior, pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape of a child with force and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 years old. He was held on $20,000 cash bail at Brockton District Court. Stonehill suspended the suspect after he was arrested. [Globe]
Stonehill College administrators don't want students distributing free condoms to each other... because they'd rather have students distribute free herpes and babies to each other by having unprotected sex! We all know how well vows of "chastity" work for priests, so who can expect college students to refrain, even at a Catholic school? Stonehill's backwards position on birth control is almost as absurd as some of the Globe comments in response to the situation, which include gems like "This girl should be more concerned about the spread of herpes by sharing cups playing beer-pong rather than the students not being coherent enough to use condoms." The dangers of beer pong aside, it's not about students being coherent enough to use condoms. It's about students having good access to condoms—which they don't, because the school took them away. Stonehill certainly has the right to enforce its policies on campus, but it does so at the risk of deterring students from attending the school. The fact that the school's already been driven to accept non-Catholic students (as in the case of the condom distributor) suggests that the market for a school with such strict policies may be about as small as the likelihood that college students will abstain from sex. Perhaps Stonehill will need to rethink its position on these issues if it wants to survive.
Rodfest is held each year to support the Greg "Rodney" Moynahan Memorial Scholarship. Moynahan, a musician who used to host "Rodfests" to celebrate his birthday, died in a car crash in 2004. Kier Byrnes, Moynahan's cousin and a member of Three Day Threshold, has continued the "Rodfest" tradition, and the money goes to Moynahan's alma mater, Stonehill College. Bands this year include Three Day Threshold, Girls Guns & Glory, Rogue Heroes, Cassavetes, and the Bowen Street Band. The Paradise, 8:00 pm.
--Cookie Monster would be very, very sad. An employee of the Bon Appetit restaurant inside Lesley University lost his mind on Saturday morning and told his boss exactly how he felt. Jose Arevalo's boss told him to plate some cookies. He didn't feel like plating any damn cookies, so he said he "wasn't listening to her because she was a woman," shoved her, squeezed her neck, and threw her into the door of the walk-in...
--An explosion at an Easton home that may have resulted from a gas leak sent six people to the hospital this morning. The blast was so strong that it flattened the two-story structure.
--At Stonehill College in Easton, a student found five empty shotgun-shell boxes in a parking lot. Given the rampage at Virginia Tech, people got nervous. However, Stonehill College waited four hours before telling students what to do. The school met with Easton Police before evacuating a dorm, but one student shot back, "It doesn't take four hours to consult with Easton Police." --Andrew Rosenblum, the part-time BU student who threatened an ex-girlfriend is now facing...
