Over 30 Brazilian nationals, allegedly in the country illegally, have been arrested since July in connection with an investigation into the TJ Aviation Flight Academy at Stow's Minute Man Air Field. This case could expose flaws in the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) procedures designed to ensure only “properly checked, legal aliens" are permitted to take flight lessons. Scrutiny increased on flight schools after the government learned several 9/11 hijackers took flight training in the United States. One person arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)was the school’s owner, Thiago DeJesus, a 26-year-old Brazilian immigrant. He told the Boston Globe he's here legally but didn't show proof of residency. He's been giving flying lessons since his arrest this week. "You think if we did something wrong, we’d still be open as a flight school?," he asked. more ›

-- Neil Entwistle was convicted on two counts of first degree murder today. He shot his wife and 9-month-old daughter. The defense, and Entwistle's surviving family, maintain that he is innocent. The minimum sentence in Massachusetts for first degree murder is life imprisonment without parole. Luckily for the Herald and Globe, who can't seem to find any other juicy crime story, Entwistle's case will undergo an automatic review by the Supreme Judicial Court. [Globe] more ›

The man fled the scene in a cab until a red dye pack in his loot bag exploded. He then fled on foot. Confidential to cabbies: people running from a bank with a bag of money are likely to ruin your upholstery. [Globe] more ›
