St. Patrick's Day parades happened Sunday in South Boston. Irish gear, bands, politicians, uniforms, costumes and pride were all on display. We didn't even include every photo. Any idea what's in those cups the guy in the first picture is holding?

Bostonist prepared for two St. Patrick's Day parades on Sunday because it's apparently bad for veterans to oppose war. LAist discovered that young people say dumb things and post them on the Internet. Chicagoist speculated on how a tsunami could damage Chicago. Citizens, advocates and legal authorities are working to keep all of the drinking in moderation. South Boston CAN Reduce Underage Drinking is one such group. The group works year round to reduce drug and alcohol addiction in South Boston. Also, Nick Collins, the state representative from South Boston, contacted many universities in Boston to curtail excessive drinking by students attending the parade.
Music is always an important part of St. Patrick’s Day in Massachusetts. Of course the Dropkick Murphy's are in town and will be rocking the House of Blues in Boston tonight and tomorrow. The Tinker's Son in Norwell features a whole weekend of Celtic music with Dublin Free Press on Friday and Devri on Sunday. The Irish Cultural Centre in Canton has U2 tribute band The Joshua Tree on Friday. Senator Jack Hart's big moment in the St. Patrick’s Day celebration comes Sunday at the St. Patrick's Day Breakfast in South Boston. Newton Police are looking for David Mark, 24, of Albany, N.Y., who has been missing since Wednesday after last being seen at Boston Beer Works. He's got Asperger's syndrome and Type-1 diabetes, and might not have enough insulin for it. Massachusetts finished 38th in the rankings of the worst driving states. Kansas ranked first. Really. There's something heartwarming about tradition. It brings people together, it gives those people something to celebrate, and it provides us all with a little something to look forward to. However, when it comes to punk rock, it's always been this Bostonist's humble opinion that breaking with tradition and rejecting the histrionics of ritualized performance for something meaningful, even downright touching, is what defines punk.
