We meant it as a joke when we said that former Romney aide Jay Garrity was the only one on the team having a good week. But it might be true. WBZ is reporting that Romney is "suspending" his campaign. more ›

within the Romney campaign got some good news after Super Tuesday. DA Dan Conley announced that he won't press charges against former Romney aide Jay Garrity. more ›

Republican presidential aspirant and former Massachsuetts governor Mitt Romney is the projected winner of the state of Massachusetts over John McCain this Super Tuesday, according to CNN. And that victory was by no means a given since Romney didn't exactly leave Massachusetts wanting more. more ›

--If we can't make an event out of a Super Bowl victory, then we'll make one out of Super Tuesday. Get answers to your burning questions, watch McLovin learn to vote, experience the rock-star presence of Barack Obama, and find out where to party. [All links Bostonist] more ›

Today is truly a day to end all days: Super Tuesday and Fat Tuesday unite as one, to reveal America for what it truly is: the Nation of the SuperFat (and the grammatically illicit double-colon sentence as well!). Bostonist encourages all of its readers to vote prior to partying (a couple of drinks might make you think Michael Cera is a great write-in vote--actually, he totally would be), and to party like it's 2009 and we've got a fresh-faced (and perhaps long socks-wearing) new prez. Below, a couple of answers (courtesy of the Elections Division) to the difficult questions that arise on this fattest of super Tuesdays (or superest of Fat Tuesdays?). more ›

Watching elections returns is sort of like watching a sports championship except instead of blocks, pitch-outs, 20 yard passes, home runs and slam dunks you have... percentages of precincts reporting. And instead of talking heads who break down game strategy and player fatigue, you have guys in rumpled shirts carefully restating in different terms what they said ten minutes ago, when there weren't so many precincts reporting. more ›

While chants of "Fired up! Ready to go!" echoed through the World Trade Center, Massachusetts political heavy-weights rallied behind the historic presidential bid of Senator Barack Obama. Senator Kerry's introduction spoke of experience that comes from "wisdom, instinct, gut, and courage - not age" and he stated that "history gives us moments and we must decide what to do with them." When Senator Obama finally took the stage he quoted Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in saying that "the fierce urgency of now" is what has led him to run for the presidency. Judging from the reaction of the 8,000 strong in attendance, Massachusetts is ready to grasp the moment and put their faith in Senator Obama. more ›

Obama? Clinton? Romney? Huckabee? Are you getting them all mixed up right about now? Try to get untangled because today is Super Tuesday and the Massachusetts Presidential Primary. Vote so you can at least weed a few of these candidates out. more ›

Is it even an argument at this point? Boston's Mayor Menino caused the Patriots' loss by planning the city's victory party a little too early and much too transparently. Last Wednesday, well before the unthinkable happened, the Herald was already proclaiming, "Tommy, you might as well have suited up for the hated Giants." more ›

--A Brazilian doctor pled guilty today of manslaughter after allegedly killing a woman in a botched liposuction surgery that took place in a Framingham house in 2006. However, the judge has rejected the guilty plea. [WBZ] more ›

Hillary Clinton has a strong chance of becoming president, if it weren't for the continued momentum of Barack Obama. However, no matter how much hope and Oprah Obama ladles on the land, Clinton will always have one strong advantage--former president Bill Clinton. Is that entirely fair? more ›

Update: No winner for the Democrats yet, which makes CNN look bad because they were calling it for Obama all day. more ›

Taking a cue from New Hampshire and just about every other state, Governor Deval Patrick has signed a bill that sets the Massachusetts presidential primary on Tuesday, February 5. The date change sets the state's primary on "Super Tuesday" so we're not lagging behind all the other cool states who always got to vote first (take that, Connecticut!). Massachusetts residents will no longer feel defeated voting after the know-it-all pundits are already calling the Democrat... more ›

Super Tuesday it ain't. Cities around the Commonwealth go to the polls today, but the big excitement seems to be in other places. To be sure, today is a big day for Maura Hennigan and her supporters (most of whom, from what Bostonist can tell, live along the Jamaicaway and have the most gi-normous lawn signs ever). But Bostonist still doesn't know quite what it is that makes Councilor Hennigan a better choice than Tom... more ›
