A New Hampshire woman was charged with assault after using a taser on a pregnant woman following a road-rage incident that began in Route 3 in Pembroke, Massachusetts and ended in Concord, New Hampshire. The suspect was throwing "bottles and cans" at the other car and the driver called 911. Both cars ended up on I-93 North at Exit 14 in Concord, New Hampshire. At a red light, the suspect got into the seat of the other woman's car and used a taser on her. She was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child. She is being held on $100,000 cash bail. Today the Herald wrote about Taser use in Massachusetts, citing some scary statistics. According to the Herald, taser use in Massachusetts quadrupled from 2006 to 2007, when the weapons were used 200 times. Amnesty International reports that 320 people have died after being hit with Tasers since 2001, and also says the weapons are now being used to "get compliance" rather than avoid lethal force. Our Ist friends have covered traumatic Taser incidents in the past: Gothamist reported on a man who fell to his death after being Tasered (as well as the subsequent suicide of the cop who ordered the Taser use), LAist addressed the Tasering of a UCLA student who committed the vile crime of being in a library, Seattlest caught a cop accidentally using his gun instead of his Taser, and Chicaogist shared the CPD's use of force model after a man died following a Tasering. We hope the use of Tasers in Massachusetts and elsewhere can be reevaluated based on these disturbing findings, and that Taser training will be improved. more ›

• SFist looked into the future of San Francisco by worrying about the taco intake of its youth; hailing its first-ever bicycle traffic light, installed at an infamously dangerous intersection; and questioning Mayor Newsom's plan to turn the Civic Center, a notably violent neighborhood, into the "Sustainable Resource District" of tomorrow.
• Gothamist was horrified to watch a video of the police using a Taser on an emotional disturbed man, who fell to his death. The NYPD later admitted it looked like the Taser use violated rules.
• Phillyist was worried this week: worried that a Philadelphia neighborhood was misrepresented in Business Week, and even more worried about a city-issued request for proposals that could result in the "disposal" of 30,000 domestic animals annually.
