The newest version of Conan O'Brien's talk show, "Conan," makes its much anticipated debut on Monday at 11 p.m. on TBS.
Conan O'Brien was last seen serving as a Jimmy Fallon punchline, and a nominee, at the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday.
Conan O'Brien will return to the late-night talk show game in November on TBS with an 11:00 p.m. show from Monday to Thursday. Conan reportedly picked TBS because they have younger viewers. George Lopez approved in advance and will move from 11 p.m. to midnight. Conan didn't want to repeat the NBC fiasco. Conan already talked on Twitter about it.
-- The Red Sox "B" logo is everywhere these days. Unfortunately, it's now appearing on alleged criminals while they are doing bad things. In New York, 13 muggings have been perpetrated since January by a man in a Red Sox hat. He does his thing on the subway, mainly against women, and has taken cash, bank cards, cameras, phones an i-Pods. He gets around, too, as he has struck in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens. Newsday describes the suspect as a "Boston fan" and decided to include a reference to David Ortiz and Kevin Youkilis in their coverage. Bostonist is not laughing.
Sunday's slow pace followed an action-packed July 4 for this Bostonist. That left free time for some idle thoughts on some pressing, or not depending on your perspective, issues:
Dustin Pedroia and Jason Bay were the top vote-getters at their positions and will start for the American League in the MLB All-Star Game on July 14 in St. Louis. Tim Wakefield (10-3) was also named to the squad, becoming the second oldest All-Star ever according to TBS. Josh Beckett, Kevin Youkilis and Jonathan Paplebon were also picked by Tampa Bay's Joe Maddon, A.L. Manager. The complete All-Star rosters are now available at MLB.com.
Oldies station WODS (103.3 FM) is already playing holiday music. Laurel Sweet at the Herald wrote, "Admit it: You love it." No, we do not love it! At least it's easy to turn the FM dial away from the Trans-Siberan Orchestra's "What Is Christmas?" But what about the sudden appearance of Starbucks holiday cups? And what about Rachael Ray's uber-perky Dunkies ad? Amy at Boston Daily is already feeling irritated by Ray's self-proclaimed "million pounds"...
Dear Dane: We know that you have a lot on your plate, what with wrapping up "Bachelor No. 2," recording all these MLB commercials and keeping college kids in a frenzy. So we here at Bostonist wanted to help out. You see, the commercials you've been offering us between innings are driving us mad - as is your hair. We thought that, given the busy day you must have today, we'd help out out a...
Wonder whatever became of the Pats? Well, they missed their target of 38 points, but still comfortably routed the Bengals last night, 34-13. On paper, it looked like the Bengals hung around - it was 10-7 until late in the second quarter - but it never felt like they were any closer than a long arm's length. With Laurence Maroney sidelined due to a groin injury, the spotlight shone on Sammy Morris, who made the...
