The Google section of the Internets is going crazy for the TD Banknorth Garden, which is now going by TD Garden. According to Google Hot Trends, TD Banknorth Garden is today's 50th fastest rising search keyword in the U.S. Bostonist has an idea or three why this is happening. Parents are probably sick of this crap but those wholesome young men known as theJonas Brothers are taking over the Hub on Friday. The Bruins did announce their complete 2009-2010 schedule, too. How much interest does the next Scott Walker sighting generate? Bostonist bets the fuss is over the name change from TD Banknorth Garden to TD Garden that will lead to one lucky fan winning free tickets to every event at the Garden for the entire 2009-2010 season. It's still the Garden to Bostonist. more ›

It was the perfect game to break the bad news. The Bruins looked like a minor league team that had fallen out of contention, lost its stars to the big leagues, and had decided to coast for the rest of the season. Not a minute of solid play. more ›

We bring you this shot by GregMacKay in honor of President's day. Peeking out from behind the Zakim, the Garden was decked out in Red, White and Blue for inauguration night. The beautiful colors and rarity of this capture make this a definite keeper. more ›

After giving a lot of thought to my first post as PotD editor for Bostonist, during which I came up with some really off-the-wall ideas, I decided that much like photography, it’s best to start with the basics. Here goes: more ›

The blog Fan Foodie recently asked Bostonist to provide a guide to eating before seeing a game at the TD Banknorth Garden. We were suitably amused by the blog's guide to tailgating in Foxborough, that we were happy to oblige. more ›

There's an urge for Disney that must be satisfied. Every second of every song from The Lion King is jammed into your head but you can't turn the DVD off because then the kids will get restless, they'll start itching for Orlando, inching towards the holy land, the world that Walt built. Which would be okay, but your paychecks disappear faster than Dory's memories in Finding Nemo. more ›

Were you still feeling sleepy after all of that turkey (or Tofurkey) on Friday? The brutal beatdowns delivered by Boston teams at the Garden were a jolt to the senses, a kick to the systems, and otherwise just dominating displays of athleticism. more ›

Thousands of people woke Sunday morning as calm, collected adults. And yet a funny thing happened on the way to the TD Banknorth Garden that night. By 9 p.m., many of those unsuspecting people (mostly women in their late twenties and early thirties) had undergone a mass regression the like of which Bostonist has never before experienced. Mature members of society were reduced to shrieking, swooning schoolgirls. more ›

- The Bobcats are to the Celtics what the Giants were to the Patriots: confident, strong, capable of making a game of it (although we'd like to think that we won't see Jason Richardson celebrating a championship for at least another couple of years). The Celts barely beat the 'Cats in November, lost (embarrassingly) in January, and were challenged up until the end on Friday night, when Boston won, 108-100, at TD Banknorth Garden. more ›

There are plenty of reasons to like Doc Rivers right now. Twenty-eight reasons, actually. But we wish we could kindly remind Rivers and the Celtics that you have to focus on winning the little games in order for the big games to mean anything. more ›

It's easy now to sit back and bask in the glory that has been the Boston athletics scene in 2007. World champions in baseball, undefeated in the NFL regular season, second place in Major League Soccer, packing crowds into the TD Banknorth Garden for the Celts and (to a lesser degree) the Bruins...we have it good. more ›

Poor Chicago. True, the Bulls could have made things interesting at the TD Banknorth Garden on Friday night if they'd actually shown up ready to play. But we imagine that they knew, as they sat in the locker room before warmups, that the Celtics weren't going to let anyone speculate about Boston's ability to bounce back from a loss. more ›

Come on, it wasn't as if anyone thought that the mighty Toronto Raptors would snap the Celtics' unbeaten home streak. Sure, they could have - insert your "any given team, any given night" coaching adages here - but it wasn't a match up that was highly anticipated. You didn't hear any of the Raptors guaranteeing victory. We're just sayin'. So it was with a pleasant little lack of surprise that the Celtics took an early... more ›

Does the venue make the team or does the team make the venue? And what happens if the venue has two teams, two games, and one day to pull it all off? The two host teams win, venue staff deserve medals, and a lot of people walk out of the place happy. There wasn't much of a battle on the boards of the TD Banknorth Garden on Friday night. The Celtics, doing what has become... more ›

No matter how old we get, the more we get a kick out of the immature, downright gleeful sensation of zinging another city's team. Case in point: Toronto on Tuesday night. The Maple Leafs hosted Boston, who in turn officially introduced the NHL to Tuukka Rask. Rask, a mere cub at 20 years of age, then made 30 saves and led the Bruins to a 4-2 victory over the Leafs. The zinger? Bruins fans know... more ›

We're playing a little game we call "what's Tommy's name not on?" The Zamboni that smoothes the ice at the Frog Pond? It's on there. The welcome sign to Boston? It's on there. The toothbrushes the Boston Public Health Commission distributes? It's on there (and happens to be absurdly huge.) The Boston Convention and Exhibition Center? Yeah, that's it. Menino's name does not adorn the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center is not yet called... more ›

Pearl Jam was in town for the last few days playing a pair of shows at the TD Banknorth Garden. We were totally into them back in, oh, say 1995. But then the whole Ticketmaster lawsuit happened and we started to really dislike the convenience we were being charged on top of the already steep ticket prices. Well that, and they released No Code and Yield. Our interest waned. But we still can sing-along to... more ›

The Celtics didn’t make the NBA playoffs. The Bruins didn’t make the NHL playoffs. So what’s happening at the TD BankNorth Garden? Not much. The action underneath the Garden is today’s news. Dan Grabauskas announced today that the commuter train platforms for Amtrak and the Commuter Rail will see a more than 100% increase in size by November. If completed this would be an amazing feat for the MBTA, which has been working on... more ›

Bostonist is still recovering from that one-hour loss of sleep due to Daylight’s Savings Time yesterday, so please be kind as we slowly enter into the world of blogging this week. Here’s a round up of the top stories here in the city today…with a couple of highlights in what is turning out to be a gloomy news day. Breaking News: A crane that was working on an Emerson College building at 136 Boylston Street... more ›

Located in the normally grimy section of town outside the shadow of the TD Banknorth Garden, Anthem is the replacement to "The Commonwealth", which succeeds where its predecessor failed. Breathing a little life into the North Station area, Anthem offers a trendy feel with floor to ceiling windows giving view to the Courthouse and Haymarket Parking Station. The restaurant has fun with itself throughout the menu description and choice of meals. Despite the humor,... more ›

Oh, good old New England sometimes your weather is just so hard to love. Bostonist is sitting here looking out the window onto raindrops that have seemingly been falling for a month now. But, in addition to the forecast, which is brighter this weekend, we need something else to get us through to Friday night. Thoughts of Bon Jovi lift our spirits. Winners make us even happier So today we're picking a winner of... more ›

Bon Jovi is playing the TD Banknorth Garden on December 9, 2005. Bostonist has a pair of tickets for a lucky reader to “Have a Nice Day” as Bon Jovi tours the world in promotion of their new album. We’ll admit it, our love for Bon Jovi just hasn’t been the same since Jon Bon Jovi cut his hair, hopped in a van, and traveled around the country “incognito” without that eighties mane. Slippery... more ›

Internet investigators over at theSmokingGun.com have given Boston another gem. The applause in Boston may actually have been coming from the Boston Herald advertising sales staff. The Cosby rider reveals that the Cosby has banned advertising of any upcoming Boston or Hartford appearances in the Boston Globe. Bostonist still has love for Bill, even if it’s been a while since we were watching Cliff Huxtable in new episodes. Could you tell us please where is the Jell-o? Bostonist hasn’t been able to find a pudding pop in the last four years. more ›

The Four Seasons Hotel Boston usually sees the likes of celebrities and professional athletes as they check in to the swanky joint, but this past Sunday morning, the hotel employees were witness to a much stranger check-in. It seems that Anthony Michael Giannone, 36 of South Boston, wandered, or as the Herald put it, "staggered" into the hotel's lobby around 5:30a.m., and went on make a scene. The security guards were all over him and... more ›

Bostonist won't waste your precious time fawning over our most very favorite Superbowl quarterback, but Tom Brady turns the ripe old age of 28 today. Happy Birthday, Tom. Bostonist got to thinking that Brady is only 28, has 3 Superbowl titles, a hot girlfriend, and a sweet condo on Commonwealth. Although Brady does have a few years on Bostonist, we would like to think that we too can achieve all that. Okay, we'll settle for... more ›

July 1, 2005: A new year, a new era. Sure, January 1 is the first day of the year according to the Gregorian calendar. In Boston the fiscal year turns the page to FY 06 today. The States budget year coincides with the beginning of a new year for the many colleges and universities around the Hub. Put that together with it being a Friday before a long weekend, Bostonist is digging on a little... more ›

Bostonist will be the first to admit that we don't give our boys in Celtic Green the coverage they deserve. Sure, we mentioned Antoine's return mid-season, which has definitely put the Celts on the path to the playoffs. They have been battling the Indiana Pacers this past week and pushed it in last night's game in Indianapolis. With team owners (both Celtics legends back in the 80s: Larry Bird for the Pacers and Danny... more ›
