City Year founder and former Americorps CEO Alan Khazei is running for Ted Kennedy's senate seat, and has been endorsed by Max Kennedy. Now, Khazei's asking you to pick his campaign video. We kinda like the "I rhyme with Jay-Z platform," but others may be more partial to this somewhat amazing take on the Cheers song. more ›

As rumors of Schilling dance in the air, Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley has officially declared her candidacy to temporarily take over the late Edward Kennedy's Senate seat. Other possible candidates include Democratic representatives Michael Capuano and Stephen Lynch, as well as Republicans Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey, and state Sen. Scott Brown. We wonder how much the hubbub over Teddy's seat will detract from the mayoral race, with primaries on September 22. more ›

Massachusetts began to say goodbye to Senator Edward M. Kennedy early Thursday afternoon. Kennedy left his home in Hyannis Port on Thursday, carried in a flag-draped casket to lead a motorcade that traveled from Cape Cod to Boston, wound through the city and finally reached the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum in Dorchester shortly before 5 pm. more ›

As the nation and the world continues to grapple with the passing of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, initial details about the political figure's memorial and funeral services are beginning to emerge. While Kennedy is likely to be laid to rest with his brothers at Arlington National Cemetery, he will lie in repose and be remembered during funeral services in his native Massachusetts. more ›

Teddy Kennedy is asking that Deval Patrick select someone to fill his Senate seat quickly but not permanently if he is forced to step down due to medical reasons. This would require a change in Massachusetts law for senate succession, which requires voters to select the new senator. Senator Kennedy wants to make sure his seat would be filled during the five months it would take by law to conduct an election. Kennedy has brain cancer and underwent surgery for a tumor last summer, then had a seizure early this year. He has been able to perform his duties but is clearly thinking ahead. We know no one can fill Teddy's shoes, but we hope that Massachusetts will be represented if he steps aside. more ›

After Senator Edward Kennedy's unfortunate seizure during the inauguration yesterday, Caroline Kennedy has announced that she is withdrawing her bid for new Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's New York Senate seat. Was it the MoDo column? The reduction of her identity to "mere" writer? "A person" informed of Caroline's decision says that Teddy's health was the dealbreaker. more ›

Senator Kennedy defied reports that he would not speak at the DNC last night, almost upstaging Michelle Obama with his calls to action and achievement. Below are some excerpts from his speech. more ›

Senator Edward Kennedy has arrived in Denver and is scheduled to attend the Democratic National Convention tonight, but probably will not speak to the crowd. However, a video tribute to Teddy's career will air. more ›

Senator Kennedy's back in business after beginning his cancer treatment. He made a surprise appearance to cast the deciding vote that smacked down a Republican filibuster on a Medicare bill. Glad to have you back, Teddy. more ›

Senator Kennedy has his first media conversation since his seizure--and it's incredibly quiet, though he appears to be doing well. If you listen closely, he thanks everyone for an outpouring of support, and there's talk of a Figawi conspiracy. The senator was scheduled to speak at Wesleyan's graduation Sunday. It's now reported that Barack Obama will replace him. WBZTV has more, if you can't comprehend the video. more ›

On top of the loss of his chosen presidential candidate, Barack Obama, in the Massachusetts primaries (debate on the "Kennedy Lift" here), Senator Ted Kennedy now has to deal with more rumors about the Kennedy Clan. more ›

Ted Kennedy catches a lot of crap just being himself. Ted-Kennedy-As-Orator is probably Jon Stewart's second-favorite impression after the George W. Bush chuckle. Throw in the alleged drinky-drinky, and Ted Kennedy makes for quite the media spectacle. Since he announced his endorsement of presidential aspirant Barack Obama, the Peanut Gallery has renewed its love affair with poking fun at Teddy. But Glenn Beck at Headline News hurt our brains when he started imagining our Senator in the buff. more ›
