The Boston Globe popped a little story in the business section this morning about another Menino belly-ache that he shouldn't be belly-aching about. The Filene's store that closed earlier this year has been home to a street-level discount bonanza serving as a clearance center for the Federated Department stores. Even though Boston somehow failed to make the Top 50 world's most expensive cities to live in list (although this survey is of arguable accuracy.) Every Filene’s flyer we’ve checked out in the past few months has had a nice little fine print section informing readers that the sales are not effective at pretty every store in the area. They’re all closing as part of the merger with Macy’s parent company Federated.
