Update: The bridge has been reopened to truck traffic, but there will be some lane restrictions on the upper level. From the AP: "State Police are diverting commercial traffic from the upper deck of the Tobin Bridge in Boston after a crack in one of the span’s support beams was found during a routine inspection." Wait--someone was inspecting it? After the Big Dig mess and general Bostonian inefficiency when it comes to such matters, Bostonist......

Governor Deval Patrick is mulling over an idea that would lease bridges and roads to corporations. Casey Ross at the Herald has the details: If approved, a deal to privatize could mean leasing the Massachusetts Turnpike, Tobin Bridge or Big Dig tunnels to for-profit companies that would pay billions of dollars for the right to collect tolls from motorists for their use. So with all these issues, baseball's finally getting serious, telling Red Sox all-around legend......

Rolling around Chelsea and East Boston this weekend, we came upon this view of the Tobin Bridge and Downtown Boston that made us feel like we were emerging from the jungle to discover a lost city (it's the trees hanging in from either side). This shot was taken from Mary O'Malley Park, which we urge everyone to check out, as it is an absolutely lovely place for whiling away summer afternoons. The park is off......
