The temperature heats up a little this week. There will be a bit more humidity in the air. But unlike last week we're not going to be engaged in the same mad-dash around the city every night to catch all the good music. Friday means something special for lovers of comic strips and internets. No, it's not the winner selection from the Finger Quotin' Margo (that happened last Sunday). Every Friday Brian McFadden posts the most recent strip of Big Fat Whale, his cartoon (also) published in the Phoenix. This week, as he's reported on his big fat blog, he's sorry for the apparent suckage of the weekly cartoon – but hopes you'll get over it and still come out to support some local cartoonists. Tomorrow from 2 – 4 pm he'll be at Million Year Picnic in Harvard Square. McFadden won't be alone signing copies of Attitude 3: The New Subversive Online Cartoonists alone, fellow featured cartoonist Mark Poutenis who's strip Thinking Ape Blues can be found in the pages of the Dig will also be on hand. It's a great chance to meet some of the great new faces pioneering comic strips in the age of the internets – it's not just for print media anymore.

Ave. We'd spend our sweet time among the cassettes before selecting something really good (most likely a classic album by the New Kids on the Block). Tower Records stayed strong and remained at that location until we came back from college in 2002 and realized that billionaire Richard Branson bought out the place and inserted a Virgin Megastore instead. Bostonist accepted it since it still sold music and after a trip to London on Virgin Airlines, we were a fan of the brand.
