[Boston Globe] --Governor Deval Patrick is putting his weight behind a bill that will protect transgendered people. Today is truly a day to end all days: Super Tuesday and Fat Tuesday unite as one, to reveal America for what it truly is: the Nation of the SuperFat (and the grammatically illicit double-colon sentence as well!). Bostonist encourages all of its readers to vote prior to partying (a couple of drinks might make you think Michael Cera is a great write-in vote--actually, he totally would be), and to party like it's 2009 and......

Fun Fun Fun Fest 2007 Recap from Super!Alright! on Vimeo. Austinist attended a town hall meeting about proposed noise ordinances that could undermine the city's future as the Live Music Capital of the World, and lamented the possible loss of Texas's only feminist bookstore. Throughout the week, they interviewed a bunch of indie fashion designers and D-I-Y websites—Etsy, Ornamental Things, 31 Corn Lane, and Aorta Designs—for the upcoming Stitch Fashion Show. They also did......

Ever the Web leader, Mitt Romney held an online Town Hall meeting at his website, in which potential voters could "ask him anything."* The audience did indeed ask Mitt anything, including some doofy questions that make Romney, a business titan and true man of the upper class, look like a regular guy. One of those questions was the following: "What was your favorite sweet cereal?" Romney answered that he digs Count Chocula and Cocoa Krispies.......

Watertown has been the site of an intense debate over whether or not to halt its participation in the "No Place for Hate" program. The Anti-Defamation League is a sponsor of the program, which helps communities fight hate crimes. The "No Place for Hate" program sounds like a good thing – who doesn't want to stop hate crimes? Unfortunately, to many Watertown residents, the Anti-Defamation League is indeed a place for hate. Many Armenian Americans......

WBZ says sixteen rounds were fired. --Citizens may have an outlet for keeping an eye on the BPD. Mayor Menino put together a three-member panel that will start looking at complaints from city residents against the BPD. However, the panel doesn't have......

We here in the Ist-A-Verse know that we're sensational, but it's very rare that we get a chance to be sensationalistic. This week, we've decided to have ourselves a little fun and try our hand at tacky tabloid headlines, using nothing more than our favorite posts from this week. Torontoist Special Report: Rosie to Trump: "Fire 300 Bicyclists for Fraud!" On DCist: Students Go Wild for Slogans, Secrets and Sexual Harassment The action was thick......

Texas is thawing, the Northeast is freezing, and a sort of natural order seems almost restored to the Ist-A-Verse. Almost. Londonist HQ—that is to say, the city of London—was battered by heavy winds, making it a bad time to be a twelve-meter (nearly forty-foot) tall snowman. Still, not everyone decided to keep warmly covered. Meanwhile, back indoors, the Big Brother racism is now causing all kinds of headaches for international diplomats, and Londonist got into......

The Emergency Rooms are relatively empty with the Red Sox in and out of first place (sometimes only depending on the rain). The excitement heats up tonight with Boston playing one of the few games before the end-of-season run with the Yanks. As the Globe editorialized yesterday, the main event tonight will certainly not be the Town Hall meeting with the mayoral candidates. After months of lackluster competition, the Town Hall happens tonight. Menino and......

It’s February vacation week for the kids. Bostonist really misses being a kid sometimes. Taking road trips with the one kid who had his license in Junior High School, rec. department planned field trips in elementary school, and feature length cartoon movies on the VCR was a simpler life. Even before we were in school we enjoyed things like bedtime stories. Today Mike Mulligan comes to Boston with his steam shovel in a musical rendition......
