If prancing around 19th century style isn't your thing, maybe rocking out is. Tonight is the Johnny Cash Tribute night at PA's Lounge in Somerville's Union Square, featuring 10 bands interpreting the master's tunes. It's been six and a half years since Cash died, but his songs still resonate with many, for both musical and emotional qualities. If you're at all a fan, tonight's diverse performances will be worth checking out. Participating bands have sounds that range from droney buzz to rollicking Americana to all-out rock, promising a multifaceted experience. The show celebrates the opening of a Johnny Cash—themed exhibit at the Nave Gallery.

Publisher's Weekly reports that family and friends, many literary, gathered in New York yesterday to eulogize author David Foster Wallace. Literary stars like Don DeLillo, Zadie Smith, George Saunders, and Jonathan Franzen were in attendance, as were Wallace friends Mark Costello, his agent Bonnie Nadel, and editors Gerry Howard, Colin Harrison, and Michael Pietsch. Attendees at the memorial praised Wallace's intelligence, which has left a legacy of smart, involved works.
