U2 in Somerville: The Bono Hangover Edition

Bostonist was on the scene outside the Somerville Theatre last night for the most highly-hyped show the area has seen in a long time. We showed you the pictures earlier this morning and were receiving reports from friends across the country who were tuned into the concert broadcast from their hometown radio stations.

U2 rocked for 5 songs. Sway from MTV hosted and mispronounced "Haverhill." Overheard outside of the Somerville Theatre last night:

U2 is in Davis Square. God Save Us All.

U2 is now in the Somerville Theatre, having received a warm welcome from Somerville residents and gawkers gathered to watch the Irish band arrive.

The U2 411: Bono and Company in Davis Square

The crews setting up for tonight's U2 performance at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square arrived early Tuesday morning and probably won't be loading out until late tonight. If you are one of those wondering how the arrival of U2 in Davis is going to affect things - and whether you're going to be able to get into this no longer even remotely secret show - here's the information you're going to need.

The Letter U and the Numeral 2 in Davis Square

After weeks of ridiculous silence, the Irish band U2 has finally let people know where it will be playing tomorrow. It's the Somerville Theatre, as many have suspected all along. Bostonist reader Ben Privett caught a glimpse of the crew loading in to the theater.

8:00 PM - We're coming to you live! Not from Bostonist HQ, which is in the danger zone of potential postgame revelry, but from our outpost in Central MA (Worcesterist?) where we've been each week to watch the Pats game. The Pats, by the way, just beat Washington 845-7. Mike Vrabel caught eleven touchdown passes. FoxSports is showing Bill Buckner one last time, just in case there was one person left in town who didn't...

Fans of the local Boston music scene always have an abundance of tunes to be able to check out, given the ever-deepening pool of area talent and multitude of venues. Usually, things work out in the listeners' favor: one can't miss band one night, another the next.

--Did you see the Track Girls mention that Bono was in town for some reason and popping up in very public places? Turns out that, according to the rival Globe, "Bono" was actually a pretty good impostor named Pavel Sfera. St. Patrick's Day is coming up, and if he's in town and you want to play a great prank on your friend, you might want to see if he's available. His website is www.bonolookalike.com.

Just in case the 106th annual St. Patty’s Day parade doesn’t satisfy your thirst for Irish fun, join Bostonist on March 16th for the Saw Doctors show. With the Dropkick Murphys show sold out, Bostonians can head over the Roxy on Thursday to get their energetic Irish fix by a group of pure-blooded blokes.

There are all sorts of celebrations going on this week. One year anniversaries, EP releases and, well, we threw in some alt-country just to spice it up a little bit. Bostonist is looking forward to to warmer weather, but until then we know where they might be heating things up on stages around the Hub. Some of the great shows you might find a pair or two of Bostonist's ears this week. Monday 2/20: The...

Bostonist first told you all about The Rolling Stones coming into town and playing at Fenway Park back in April; the authorities that be tried to keep it on the down low, but it was pretty much set that they'd be here. Well, the weekend of Mick, Keith and the boys is finally here as they take the stage in Sunday and Tuesday night performances in the Sox outfield, with the random addition of the Black Eyed Peas as the opening act. For those that paid equivalent to a small down payment on a home for these tickets, enjoy the show. For those fans who couldn't afford the seats, mosey on down to Newbury Fine Arts (at 29 Newbury Street) to see guitarist Ronnie Wood's work. These paintings, mixed medias, and drawings will be on display until August 29; there is an open party tomorrow night from 6:30-8:30p.m., but you won't meet Wood unless you throw down some cash and buy a piece of art, which start in the $4,000 range.

As everyone knows, Bostonist has a soft-spot for Pats QB, Tom Brady, who has been recently in the news for a few things. First off, the bachelor Brady supposedly is engaged to model/actress Bridget Moynahan. According to the gossip column at the Herald, Tom popped the questions while he and Bridget were touring Europe after winning the third Superbowl title. Now of course this hasn't been confirmed by an actual publicist, but Boston women will...

The 47th GRAMMY Awards aired last night on CBS and while Bostonist was hoping for something exciting to happen, like a wardrobe malfunction for example, nothing out of the ordinary really occured. Ray Charles was the big winner with the his collection of duets (completed a few months before his death), "Genius Loves Company" winning Best Album and "Here We Go Again," a duet with songstress Norah Jones, picking up Record of the Year. Charles...
