Drinking isn't for kids, and it's apparently not for some adults, either. Elizabeth McQuade, 50, and her son both pleaded innocent to violating something called a "social host" law. Simply, she allegedly bought alcohol for her son and 23 other teenagers Saturday night to drink at their house in Cohasset. Quincy District Court Judge Mark Coven ordered a "sobriety-testing device" be placed in the McQuade's home by the Probation Department. A positive test could lead to a 60-day jail sentence. An August 30 pretrial conference will determine if McQuade violated probation. (In May, McQuade allegedly assaulted her ex-husband with her shoe.) Cohasset police arrived at McQuades at about 11 p.m. The police hearing chants of "take off your shirt" and "we got your shirt off." McQuade denied being home "all night," a fact two teenagers at the party contradicted, according to police. McQuade faces a $2,000 fine or a year in prison if convicted of breaking the social host law. Her son, and 23 teenagers, also face charges. All charges alleged until proven under law.
