Lester, Bats Bury Blue Jays; Francona wins 900th
After four straight losses, the Red Sox got plenty of runs and run prevention en route to a 14-3 drubbing of the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.
The Sox led by a 10-0 margin after a seven-run barrage in the third. Mike Cameron and Bill Hall combined to go 6-8 with seven RBI from the seventh and eighth spots in the order. Marco Scutaro and Kevin Youkilis each added two RBI. The Red Sox finished with 14 hits and four home runs.
Jon Lester (11-3) kept Toronto checked with a two-run, four-hit game. Lester has started 13 games, according to NESN, in which he has held the opposition to two runs or less, which leads the league. Based on nothing but timing, Lester could be in line for an All-Star game start on Tuesday.
